Gaming through July

I don't think an AC town would give me the benefit of impeachment, although it would be cute to see that process play out in the game, they'd just kick me out outright. lol

Might have to listen to some Retronauts, and Pacific Rim looks good; I'm not as excited as everyone else, but I've heard good things.

Awesome, man! It's good that in your case you're getting this to happen first year, as opposed to what happened with me when everyone started turning heads on my way out the door. Yell

But you should still punch that one guy.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I've just seen so many Animal Crossing blogs I was surprised you didn't know who else had it. lol But this is a more convenient method of inquiry, I'll give you that.

I don't know if the women who play those games feel like they "have to," they just enjoy the gameplay, and I'd contend with the fact there's nothing else out there for more "girly girl" gamers, like Animal Crossing, but I think the issue there would lie more with how women are depicted than the style of gameplay, which is just a harmless preference anyone can have.

Good on your LoL group though, that really is shitty of those guys.

Tell me you didn't just say that: an open letter to Anita Sarkeesian

Yeah, basically insulted the audience she is trying to stick up for. Not smart.

She may have a point in that technically more people in general will play an easier game, but that should inform the first stage in a kiosk/online demo, not an entire game.

Back to the issue ... at hand ... I think where the bullying he's talking about really comes in is online. Lack of female characters is unfortunate, but I don't think it's inherently sexist to make male-oriented game like Gears of War, and for people to prefer those games over most others. And as jgusw pointed out last time this got brought up, women will play games like that, too.

Which is where the main problem comes in: harassment of women in online play. Obviously, having never owned a current gen console or done any serious gaming online, I'm not a firsthand witness to it, but there are plenty of horror stories of dismissing female gamers online. There was also a recent twitter trend regarding a "grope gang" at a con a facebook friend linked to in a status of his. It is all apalling.

I forgot where I was going with this. I guess I was just agreeing with the video. Also, if Nintendo released like a DLC or something of the lost Shiek chronicles that filled in what happened in her parts of Ocarina of Time, I'd love to buy it.

I did before I commented, "female in the video" was a joking reference to porn viewing, not the escapist link. And I use a very powerful brand of lube, of course. Tongue Out Hopefully, people get that I'm joking. lol

Microsoft aftermath: Why I'm not ashamed I was mad.

I think a lot of people have that sentiment after last go-rounds' RRODs and whatnot. Being a Nintendo faithful for all the systems I owned, and sitting out last gen, I never had to worry about any of that, but there's clearly evidence these new home computers will shit bricks out of the gate, and I'm not willing to learn that the hard way, when I can just glean that lesson from others online.

Wait, was that a Clerks reference? I'm gonna pretend it was.

I took more of an afraid of the future approach when the XBO was first announced, and was kind of pissed that this was where we were going, but ultimately thought, "well, I sat out this gen, I can do it again." Then PS4 at E3 made me want one, but I'm still going to have to pony up the cash (by pony up, what I really mean is decide the student loan rate doubling doesn't affect me buying something as unnecessary as a Japanese gaming system, which may or may not happen depending on what jobs I land in the near future) to get one in the first place. At least it's the cheapest non-Wii U option.

Honestly, I'm wondering how much Microsoft actaully affected with the change, considering a lot of people complaining don't seem to have been planning on buying next gen at all according to comments. How true that is, I don't know, but food ... I got distracted.
