May 2021 Recap

Yeah Half Genie Hero's not my favorite, but there hasn't been a bad Shantae game yet!  I really like the original and PIrate's Curse.

Year in History Lists For June

Only games I can think of right now for that time period is 1942 and 1943.  To this day, 1943 is one of my favorite shooters.

Aw too bad you don't have a SNES Mini.  I love that thing.  I named it my GOTY when it came out.  But then, the SNES is my top favorite console of all time.

Mega Man 2 Review

Posted on 06/05/2021 at 08:11 AM | Filed Under Review

I would consider Mega Man 2 one of the top five best NES games.  Even though I like MM3 just a little more, I can TOTALLY understand why someone would like 2 better.  MM2 was the game that really got me into the franchise.  I had rented the first game before, but I also rented Legacy of the Wizard alongside it so that won out at the time.  But after I rented and beat MM2, I gave the original Mega Man another chance and beat it as well and I've been a fan ever since.  Mega Man 2 also has one of my favorite video game songs of all time: Dr. Wily's Stage 1 theme.  I actually have better memories playing Mega Man games on the NES over Mario ones.  In fact, I'd have to say that I like Mega Man better than Mario, which is weird of me to say since I tend to gripe at super hard games.  But regardless, that's how I feel in that case.

Yeah I don't know why, but I never could get into the original Super Mario Bros. the way so many others did.  I mean, yeah it's a good game, but it didn't grab me as much for some reason.  But you've got to try Pac-Man 99.  It's very awesome!

I remember seeing kids have whole binders of those cards as a kid.  I always wondered where the heck they got all that money to buy all those cards, and why didn't they spend it on something better.

Moldy Oldies: Mouse Trap

Mouse Trap, Mouse Trap, Cheese was the bait...

Oh my gosh that song was awful.  I feel sorry for my parents for having to listen to that Pac-Man Fever record over and over as a kid.  But then, they did get it for me for my birthday!  I still have that record.

Mouse Trap had to have been at least a moderate success, though, because I remember seeing it in every arcade I went to as a kid in the early days.  I also remember seeing lots of commercials for the home ports and of course there's the Buckner and Garcia song.

Speaking of which, one of the reasons why I like the Wreck-It Ralph movie so much is that they got the same folks who did Pac-Man Fever to make a song about Wreck-It Ralph!

Viewtiful Joe 2 Part 2

Posted on 05/30/2021 at 07:38 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I would love to play a new Viewtiful Joe game, as long as it's not so gosh darn hard!  But like I said earlier, if it's not Resident Evil or Monster Hunter, Capcom doesn't seem to be too interested nowadays.  I'm just glad they're releasing The Great Ace Attorney in the US finally.  Now if only Capcom would finish Mega Man Legends 3...

I have a hard time going with the crowd for some reason.  Guess my tastes are just too weird.  Even when I do end up liking something that's popular, it takes a while for me to do so.  Like as a kid, even though I liked Transformers and the NES, two very popular things, it took a year or so before I'd get into them.

Your profile picture reminded me to tell you that I saw a commercial for some kind of new computer animated MODOK cartoon.  Oddly enough, it was on Hulu, not Disney+.  Isn't MODOK part of Marvel?  You'd think it would be on Disney then.
