The NES was our first dedicated game console and with it the Super Mario/Duck Hunt game. It got played constantly by my wife and I (ok she wasn't my wife at the time but still).
The gaming world owes a lot to Mario. Itsa him who kickstarted the resurgence of videogames in the 80's.

I have this game for PS3 but only got as far as the forest then somehow got killed by the smoke monster. I should try again if I ever get the game room back from my son. :(

To long ago to remember clearly. It seems close though and in some cases the graphics look better.

They just released another patch. Hopefully it fixes some of the issues. Then again I don't think I've ever played a PC game that doesn't slow down, lock up or crash for unknown reasons. It's just the nature of the beast.
