Episode 131: An Acquired Taste

Posted on 03/31/2018 at 02:15 AM | Filed Under Feature

The fact that RE 5 was co-op turned me off. I am one of those people that searches in nooks and crannies and reads files, and I can't do that when someone else is there. And it being a pseudo-horror game (because let's face it, RE hasn't been a horror series since the first game) means that having someone voice chatting with me would suck any tension right out.

Comics wise, I am currently not reading any super hero books, but that is about to change with some of the new Marvel creative teams. I'm still LOVING the new Archie books, but sadly Jughead and Josie and the Pussycats ended, so it's just the main Archie book right now. I'm also way into Rat Queens, but it is a very sporadic book. I also read Sex Criminals, Saga, and Sunstone in trade format. Sunstone is my favorite of those books, but if you don't like the idea of lesbian BDSM related content you may want to give it a pass.

Pacific Rim Uprising

I love this series so much. This one wasn't quite as good as far as the action (not enough kaiju), but I liked the characters better. I love how good giant monster movies look now. I can't wait for the Godzilla/King Kong crossover, and I really hope that we get another Pacific Rim, but considering how poorly this one is doing I won't hold my breath.

I think not having BotW as GOTY (or in the top 5 in my case) shouldn't suggest that someone doesn't like it. I have serious issues with the gameplay of that game, and I am not a Zelda fan in general. So the fact that BotW sucked me in for 60 hours (and some really long play sessions) speaks volumes for how much I like that game.

I like that a lot. Wizards and Warriors 3 was by far my favorite game in the series. I regret trading it in ages ago.

Glad to hear you enjoy Pak Watch! I'm looking forward to seeing how it evolves, and we have a great segment lined up for when this takes its course.

Yeah, Angelo was talking about a bit in Dust; An Elysian Tail where you have to crouch for a few seconds and a whirlwind takes you to the next area, ala Simon’s Quest.

I...honestly don’t know what meme Patrick was talking about. I often don’t know what Patrick is talking about, in general.

Thanks for the kind words! Historically, when it's just me and Angelo on an episode, it just exists with little to no fanfare, so I get self conscious.

I did the phone call mini game in Yakuza and...wasn't a fan. Found it way too hard to hit the targets, considering how convoluted the controls are. But the way Kiryu answers a phone is amazing, and I wish I had a landline to do that, because I would do it every time.

Yeah, I still use Facebook, but I stopped posting personal things on it almost completely. I keep all my social media stuff confined to geek culture these days, with very few acceptions. Except for tumblr, but that I keep extremely anonymous, because tumblr is a wasteland. A glorious, glorious wasteland.

While I cannot support this statement, I approve of your love for one of my favorite rhythm games of all time.

I’m curious, do you listen to the show, or are you just commenting on the title?
