Your history with Valkyria Chronicles sounds a lot like my history with the original Alundra. I played that game twice. Once, my save became corrupted due to a defective memory card, the second time I accidentally erased it. 

I can absolutely get behind Resonance of Fate. I've already played that one, but plenty of other people haven't.

I don't actually have a way to play Valkyria Chronicles, or Demon Souls, so I might have to pass on putting them in this round, but I'll add them to my list. Demon Souls might be a tough one to do logistically though...

Too bad we lost ActRaiser. That would have made this way more difficult for me. Love Kain, but I'm much more interested in seeing a game as crazy as Eternal Darkness make a return.

I recently picked up all 3 titles on the PC in one collection for a pretty decent price off amazon, and yes, it was physical. It took a little work to get the older titles to run, but Thief 3 worked great. That's probably your best bet. 

Dishonored paid quite a lot of homage to the original Thief games (not the one on the Xbox, the ones on PC developed by Looking Glass.) Mind you, we're talking about late 90's era PC graphics here. If I recall, the big deal about Thief II was that it featured, get this, colored light sources. Needless to say, if dated 3d graphics get to you (and they don't age nearly as well as character based / sprite graphics, so I understand,) You probably won't enjoy it very much.

Honestly, 10 bucks is a great deal for those games. If you're worried, look at some lets play videos on YouTube. Just make sure you avoid stuff like speed runs or anybody 'gaming' the game. Thief is a title that needs to be played slowly and with purpose, so watching anybody doing weird stuff like that won't help you.
