PSN - Spooky sales for the rest of October

Posted on 10/22/2013 at 10:49 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Awesome, thanks for the heads-up.

I also bought Fatal Frame 2 (and Lone Survivor) just last week, but I might just pick up the other ones at that price.  Puppeteer is also tempting, and I've been meaning to try out Undead Nightmare for awhile, so I'll probably grab that too.

I already spent over $100 last week on a handful of PSN games...guess I'll drop some more.  The $10 back for every $50 spent is a great deal too.  I guess I'll be getting at least $30 in PSN money by the end of the month.

October in Your Pocket: Costume Quest

I really enjoyed this game when I played it a couple years ago.  It actually brought back the feeling I used to have when I was younger and would be so excited to dress up and go trick-or-treating.  Halloween has always been my favorite holiday due to the spooky decorations, pumpkins, and costumes.  I might have to play it again in the next couple weeks.

I haven’t seen Warm Bodies yet, but I want to.  I’ve been meaning to rent it from Redbox.  I'm glad to hear that it's good.

I’ve always enjoyed zombie movies.  Some lesser-known ones that I would recommend are Fido, Zombies Anonymous, and Deadgirl.  All three are different than your average zombie movie.  Deadgirl isn’t for the easily offended though, as the whole concept of it is kind of disturbing.

Oh yeah, another zombie movie I'd recommend that was suprisingly decent is zombie strippers.

Point-and-click adventure games: The good, the bad, and the ugly

Posted on 10/14/2013 at 09:45 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I've been a fan of point-and-click adventure games for a long time (although in my head I still call them graphic adventure games, although that term has been long outdated).   When I was younger I was obsessed with every adventure game that Sierra and LucasArts put out. I think Day of the Tentacle and the Space Quest series are my favorites.

I am really happy that Telltale has become so succesful in recent years.  I've played all of their adventure games and have had alot fun with them (although I was dissapointed to hear that they cancelled their Kings Quest reboot).  The Walking Dead series has been really good.

I also agree with Whatsacow.  I haven't completed it yet, but the Cat Lady is really good, if you're okay with its distrubing content.  So far it has been really simple, but the story is compelling.

A Wealth of Entertainment

I don't understand it either.  It's not an MMO.  It's not supposed to go on forever.  They give you the option of roaming around the world after you beat everything else because they know some people want that.  If you don't, then stop playing.  You already got a ton of entertainment value for your money.

Homelessrooks' Horror Showcase and Reveiw! Halloween Countdown Edition!

Pumpkinhead is the only one I've seen of these.  I'll have to check out the other ones.  It's kind of a tradition that I go to my brother's house and watch alot of horror movies in the weeks leading up to Halloween. Maybe we can add a couple of these in.

Why I am who I am

My username comes from my childhood dog's name.  I used it as my log-on back in the early days of the internet (for either a Sierra fan site or a specifically King's Quest fan site) and have been using it for internet stuff ever since.  The number just came from randomly adding on numbers until I got a username that hadn't been used before.

Breaking Bad Just Made Television History

*Spoilers* – Don’t read if you don’t want the final episode ruined.

It was a great ending to a great show.  I really enjoyed it and have really nothing to complain about, although if I had to say something negative I would say that it had a little too much closure for the type of show it was.  I mean, in one single episode Walt had some sort of closure with the grey matter founders, was able to set up his family with the money, saw his wife, son, and daughter for the last time, finally admitted the truth to his wife (“I did it for me”), Lydia gets killed by the ricin, the neo-nazis get slaughtered, Jessie kills Todd, Jessie gets set free, Jessie and Walt come to some sort of reconciliation (although I’m unsure if Jessie not shooting him was truly a ‘fuck you’ moment or if he kind of felt sympathy for Walt since he knew he was dying-I’m guessing a mixture of both), and then a poetic death for Walt just before the cops bust him.

I’m not complaining.  It was all awesome. It was one of the best finales I’ve seen of any show (Six Feet Under still has the best, IMO), and I’m sure this show will always be among my top 5.  It just seemed a little too neat for such a gritty show.

I've sort of wanted to watch this for awhile, but have been hesitant to.  I'm not easily disturbed by stuff, but I don't really want to waste my time watching a movie where the only purpose it to be as fucked up and as disturbing as possible.  Is there anything else to the movie?  Is it made well? Is it actually scary at all?  I'll probably eventually give it a shot, just to satisfy my curiousity.

I was really impressed with this game.  At first I was kind of wary of trying it out due to the images the game was marketed with.  It looked like it might be a guilty pleasure, but nothing more.  I finally decided to try it out once the price came down and was glad I did.  I loved everything about the game.  The puzzles were fun and challenging.  The story in-between was really compelling.  I was surprised by how much I liked just hanging out and talking in the bar.

I need to go back and play through it again.  The first time I tried to choose the "right" choices by trying to be a good boyfriend.  Next time I'd like to see the story play out going the other way.
