Sunday's Gaming

A lot of people bash on Super Paper Mario, but I really liked it.

I played Tales of Vesperia back on the 360, but I never finished it because it got too long and meandering.  My favorite characters in Vesperia were the purple doggy and one lady named Judith.  Not sure why I liked her, just did.

I really liked Super Lucky's Tale.  It wasn't the best 3-D platformer, but it put a smile on my face and games don't do that for me as much as they used to.  Here's my review:

Well I'll tell you about Soul and WW84 since I can probably do so without spoiling them for you.

Soul is good but not great.  It's a little weird and has a lot of missed opportunities for a more cohesive storyline. But it's also one of those movies that up for personal interpretation, so maybe I didn't view it the way others did.

WW84 was too slow for a 2 and a half hour long movie.  And for a movie set in the 80s, they missed the opportunity to have a rockin' 80s soundtrack!  And the movie is supposed to be set in 1984, but in an arcade in the film, they had an Operation Wolf machine, which didn't come out until 1987!  But then, I'm probably the only one who cares about stuff like that.  Also, Gal Gadot ate her spinach.

And those are my movie reviews!

I missed out on the N64 ClayFighters game because I was a poor college student at the time.  Come to think of it, I only rented or played the SNES ClayFighter games at demo stations.  But I liked them!

Another pinball game that does a good job explaining the rules is Crystal Caliburn.  But that may be because it's a more simplistic game based on rules of early 80's pinball tables.  Have you ever heard of Crystal Caliburn?  It's a really old Windows pinball game (well, mid to late 90's old), and I played it a lot in college.

It's hard to keep up with all the pinball stuff.  The only reason why I keep up with the Pinball FX and Zen Pinball stuff is because I'm on good terms with Zen Studios and have been reviewing pretty much all of their games since...well it's been over ten years anyway!  Maybe longer!

The thing I remember about Little House on the Prairie when I was a kid was that it came on TV after the weekday afternoon cartoons were over.  Around 5 o'clock or so.  So it was kind of an in-betweener from the cartoons and the evening news.  And that was usually about the time I'd start on my homework if I had any.

Have you watched any movies lately?  I just watched Soul and the new Wonder Woman movies over the holidays and would love to hear your opinions on them if you watched them.

Good luck on your goals.  I've been sticking with my 'exercise more' goal for the past two years, working out nearly everyday.  And now I've gained about 20 pounts of muscle!

Are you going to play any of the other Shantae games?

I really liked Picross 3D on the 3DS.  It really helped me understand the rules of Picross better and it's one of the few games I got so addicted to that I let my batteries run out while playing!

The clay animation style of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse was so cool.  You know what we need?  A new ClayFighter game!

They have yearly bowling games, too?  How different can a bowling game be from year to year?

Yeah if you really want to get a high score, you gotta read those rules so you know where to hit the ball.  That was the neat thing about the Pro Pinball series is they explained the rules of the tables very well.  Which is pretty amazing considering how complicated Big Race USA was!  For some reason, I don't think the Pinball FX games explains the rules quite as well.
