Love me some “Hatred"

Posted on 10/17/2014 at 12:05 PM | Filed Under Blogs

There was a point-and-click game called Dreamweb made in the 1990s by British developer Empire Interactive, where your objective was to kill seven people (a rock star, a politician, a priest, a business magnate, and three others, along with anyone who stood in your way) to prevent them from destroying the "Dreamweb" and triggering a nuclear war. However, if you read the documentation that came with the game, including the main character's diary which also served as copy protection, it made you wonder whether the main character you were playing as was just another schizophrenic or sociopathic serial murderer, since he was documenting his own deteriorating mental state. None of this actually appeared in the game itself other than a conversation at the beginning between the main character and his girlfriend, who is worried about him and wants him to see a psychiatrist. What's your reward for "winning" this game? Being killed by the police in a hail of bullets.

This is an awesome post, Jesse, and sums up exactly how I feel. I hope it gains traction, but I deleted my Twitter account. Never used the site much to begin with and it seems to be one of the bigger concentrations of toxicity on the 'net.

This game reminds me of a less comedic Postal more than anything, judging by the trailer.

The one and only blog I'm doing on this topic

It's a Twitter shit-throwing contest, nothing more. You're better off for having avoided it. It's mostly been people airing their dirty laundry in public with a healthy dollop of "But-but-but Mommy she's doing it TOO!" And all this is over a bunch of goddamn video games!

I apologize if my language is offensive, but this is how I feel.

I've never had any problem with skunks, but having one living in your foundation, right under the dining room no less... ugh. We live-trapped the skunk twice. The first time, we deposited it two miles away on the southern shore of Lake Thunderbird near our house. It found its way back. The second time, my father drove it all the way around to the northern shore of the lake.

We used to have a lot of raccoons and opossums that would come up to our back door when I was growing up, and deer are always out and about here. One time we had a skunk make its home in our foundation, which wasn't fun.

A neighbor also used to keep peafowl and let them roam loose, and they'd come into our yard.

Awesome pics. The things you see in your line of work.

My aunt who lives in Gilbert has always had a bunch of huge toads living on her property. They come out at night. I never was tempted to "do toad", as in the Family Guy episode. :)

The Ninja Turtles kicked the asses of the Punk Frogs created by Shredder, so the Battletoads don't stand a chance.

I'm turning into an iPad gamer. Help! I feel scared!

I like my iPad for Netflix, reading, and stuff, but gaming? Nah. The "traditional" games I bought just aren't as good without physical controls. The stuff made from the ground up for touch screens flat out sucks ass.
