Seems like they steadily decreased since the $400 NES. Interesting. I think Nintendo was never about making a premium device to wow your friends with like maybe Sony was. Maybe it's that they tend to aim a bit younger in their audience.
I'd download it but I'm in the midst of a RETRO FEVER and may be down for a few weeks. You know, when those RETRO FEVERS hit, they hit hard.

I recall now reading that Miyamoto was thinking of a dog on a chain for the Chain Chomps idea.
Yea, plus they used to shoot balls with chains on them in real cannons. [wiki search] They're called Chain Shot and they were used to shred sails and rigging in opposing ships at close range.
