"One of us, One of us"
Is it bad that part of me still just wants to use this face instaed :O .....
Yeah Xenoblade is awesome. It manages to have the old-school JRPG feel without many of the pitfalls of the genre. That beign said there are still a number of issues with the game, but overall I think this game exemplifies how the JRPG can grow and evolve to find its place in the current the gaming landscape.
the staff here at Pixlbit has actually been talking about this. With so many new members here on the site we'd love to set up some game nights to get to know everyone, and most importantly play some games!!
Having a somewhat linear path is not a problem for me, what I really liked about FarCry 3 was the flexibility of the game’s systems. It seems most of the time that flexibility is attributed (wrongfully) to sandbox games, but that’s not the case (as you’ve just pointed out).
The way you describe the Crysis series makes it seem as though it offers that kind of flexibility with its combat system. That’s what I’m really looking for in a single player First Person Shooter, something that will allow you to engage situations from different angles and employ different strategies, instead of a game that simply tests your spatial awareness and reaction time.
While we are on the subject of shooters, I know you’re not a huge fan on multiplayer games, but have you ever played class-based shooters (TF2 or Monday Night Combat). That’s what I truly long for, another great class based FPS, unfortunately nothing like that has come out since the original MNC on Xbox 360.
Same here. FarCry 3 was the most fun I've had in a single player FPS in years, so if its anything like that, I know I'll enjoy it. Thanks for the great infromation as always Mike!
The last thing that any of us need are more contracts in our lives. Steam hurry up and get those boxes out so I don't have to deal with this mess.
Hello everyone, like Jesse said it's great to be back. In the podcast I said I would provide a link to my article discussing gender relations, here's the link for anyone who is interested: http://www.pixlbit.com/feature/1247/the_gender_blind_myth
Thanks for listening!
Hey Mike,
There are a few more options as the game opens up, but the game never feels truly open. What I mean by this is at a certain points you can use different routes and methods to take out foes, but the experience still feels similar all the same. While I did see a lot of potential in this game no matter how you look at it, the game play mechanics become repetitious. If you’re looking for a game that would play off of your ingenuity and creativity (in regards to how you sneak around obstacles) this isn’t the right game for you.
Sorry to bring bad news. Wish I could say that this game was better, but it really wasn’t. Has a lot of potential to turn into a great title, and the platforming was interesting as you had mentioned, but that’s where it ends.
Hope this helped. The good news is thought, don’t know if you have seen it yourself, but there is a game coming out this October called Dishonred that looks to emphasize player input. The game looks to offer an incredible number of options to complete each obstacle including a large number of stealth specific abilities. That should certainly be a title to look out for. Even though it’s not a realistic title splinter cell, I’m wagering it will have some of the most rewarding stealth mechanics that we’ve seen in games and is shaping up to be one of the stronger titles this year.
Ubisoft had a great E3; almost all of their titles were enticing and should garner some attention post show. Glad that you saw a few games that you wanted to see with Halo 4, and Splinter Cell Blacklist. I may get back into Halo myself come this next title, as I’ve been taking a break from the series since the 3rd installment, but I still really enjoy the series and this may be the perfect time for me to get involved again.
For me the three games I’m leaving being most excited about at this point are: Watch Dogs, Beyond: Two Souls, and The Last of Us. Hopefully the fact that these games are receiving so much attention and are all different in some manner to what normally consists for a big block buster title, will help spur some creativity into the industry.
Anyways if do I end up getting back into Halo, I know who I’ll be coming to for great map designs …
