Breaking News!

I think I'm getting very close to finishing this one up. I'm currently making my way through Archdragon Peak, but I've already gone through the whole Consumed King's Garden and into all of the interesting places connected (I'll be vague for the sake of no spoilers). I've basically put off progress in Lothric Castle until I could finish up all these side areas.

Only thing that makes me sad is that it feels like the shortest one yet, at least on my first play through. I haven't even cracked 30 hours yet and I'm fairly certain I'm approaching end game. Lothric Castle *seems* to be where this whole thing is culminating, but I don't know for certain at this point.

There's definitely stuff I've missed and quest lines that I didn't complete. I'll have to be more careful on NG+ and make sure I knock all that stuff out. All that aside, the game has been amazing. It totally outclasses DS2 and I think it might stand head and shoulders with DS1. There's tons of callbacks to DeS, which was very surprising. Yarger and I have been trying to piece together some of the lore and I have no fucking idea how it all comes together yet when you work in the events of 1 and 2. Clearly the worlds are all linked, but how and via what timelines is totally unclear.

Let's see, some 2014 favorites:

1) Dark Souls II
2) Smash for Wii U/3DS
3) South Park: The Stick of Truth
4) Guacamelee: Super Turbo Champinonship Edition!
5+6) Danganronpa 1 and 2
7) Shovel Knight
8) Mario Kart 8

Games I still need to get to that would likely make the list:

Bayonetta 2 and DKC: TF

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Review

I did beat the game. Can't say I remember much though, it's been a very long time since I played it. I want to say I started the second game as well, but I don't remember for sure.

If I recall correctly, my biggest gripe about the game was the rigidness of it all. Even though I might've figured something two steps ahead out, I had to jump through a number of mundane and often illogical hoops to explain pieces of things before the bigger more important thing. Or the whole trouble of finding a needle in a haystack when searching for evidence to support the case.

All that said, I liked Danganronpa 1 & 2 well enough that I want to go at this series again and try to get more into it. Chessa adores all of the games in the series, so we've got them all. Would love for things to click and to go through each one.

Momodora looks sweet, putting that on my Steam Wishlist right now. Will definitelty consider that one once I've had my fill of DS3. I think I'm approaching the end of NG and I'd like to go through NG+, so we'll see. Also have the rest of Bloodborne and its DLC to get through, so it might be a while :)

This is the only game in this series I played and I can't say I liked it much. I do want to go back to it at some point though as I really enjoyed Danganronpa and I'm wondering if I'd have more of a palate for it now.

First Impressions [Axiom Verge @PSVITA]

I believe it is destined for the Wii U, which seems fitting considering it's basically a Metroid game and Dan Adelman has been doing the PR for it (he was a big indie promoter within Nintendo for a long time).

Totally - Zero Mission is an awesome game and completely blows the original away. Axiom Verge isn't bad, it's just not quite up to par with Metroid. It does have a few low points and after dealing with a few of them, it was enough that I walked away and haven't looked back.

Did some quick research and it doesn't support Cross Save at this time. So I might restart the game at some point here since I'm in between games on handhelds at the moment.

I might pick this back up on Vita. I was playing it on PS4, but eventually lost interest. I usually love these kinds of games, but it got to the point where I was running back and forth the entire world a lot looking for a needle in a haystack, which just got... boring, quite frankly.

Does anyone know if this one has cross-save? If I can pick up where I left off I might start up again on Vita. Seems like something that I'd play in bed.

Cool! Looking forward to checking out the review. Hopefully you enjoyed it :)

Also, I'll definitely be sure to post something about my thoughts on Star Fox Zero when I give it a shot. I'm 50/50 on the controls. I've heard people praise the fact that you can do a lot more using them than with the traditional Star Fox games and others lambaste the general mix of motion + button controls. I can definitely see both ends, so I'm hoping they click for me. Star Fox 64 is long overdue for a competent follow-up!

Still haven't cracked open Star Fox Zero yet. Came at the worst time (near the release of a Dark Souls game), so it'll be a little while before I jump in. I'm excited to try it and I hope the controls click, because I adore Star Fox and desperately want to enjoy this game.

If you're curious to learn more about Star Fox 2, I wrote a piece on it a while back. Give it a look!
