Just checked that out! Thought the Youtube vid they created was a great idea, although it would have been a whole hell of a lot cooler and more effective if they actually created a demo of an 8 bit game based on their brew.

What did you think of the ale?

Exactly. If you look at the Legend of Zelda: The Legend of Zelda - A Link To the Past - Ocarina of Time - Wind Waker, that is a pretty significant evolution, so is Super Mario Bros - Super Mario World - Super Mario 64 - Super Mario Galaxy. It's rare to see those kinds of leaps, especially amidst the current gaming landscape.

Insert Coins to Continue: Micro transactions in gaming today

In my opinion, there is a pretty substantial line dividing quality DLC and cheap, trashy microtransactions. The golden rule I personally use is: is the content something that could have, and should have, been included in the final $60 game on launch day? I find Day 1 DLC to be abhorrent, but if we are talking "down the line", well-crafted content such as Undead Nightmare, Dawnguard, or the Fallout 3 DLC, then I actually very much enjoy it - and even if you decide not to purchase said DLC, it will in no way hinder or downplay the original (hopefully complete) experience.

It surprises me big publishers aren't getting the hint that cheap microtransactions, while seeming like a good idea to bean counters now, will hurt them financially in the long run. Aside from the sketchy morality behind them, microtransactions (especially the crap we've seen with Dead Space 3) make their titles look like the desperate person at the bar; and no one wants to go home with the desperate person at the bar, let alone settle down with them.

Agreed. My opinion is that when mergers and buyouts occur, there is going to be a conflict of interest between honest opinions/reviews and the rules of the game of corporate monopoly. The worst part is that the suits performing these transactions very rarely have any education on what exactly it is they are buying and selling; only the process of these transactions is on their radar. It's sad when any small business/website/venture has to be bought out or corporately sponsored to simply keep its doors open, let alone when great things end because of spreadsheet calculations.

None taken. Honestly I just tacked on ABR values - my focus was conveying the concept of 8 bit brews moreso than establishing accurate alcholic content.

Agreed Aaron! Companies need to use the time they spend coming up with buzzwords in better ways, like creating quality titles! Sorry, Sony, The Playstation isn't an "Ecosystem". The rainforest is an ecosystem, the PS4 is a CONSOLE.
