Dug Out My Disney Infinity Figures For the Last Time

Right now I'm playing another Disney game: Kingdom Hearts 3.  I wonder if anyone would be interested in a blog about the worlds in that game?

Qix Review

Have you ever played Elevator Action: Death Parade?  It's a light gun game very similar to Time Crisis, except you have real working elevator doors that cover the screen, as well as buttons that open and close the doors and let you choose floors.  My local Round One arcade had it for a while.

They're just Burger King kids meal toys, so check your local Burger King and see if they still have 'em!

Maybe it's a YouTube celebrity?  I can't keep up with all those YouTubers, and I'm too lazy to look it up.

Yeah the artwork, characters, music, gameplay, it's all better in Kirby games than in Mario games.

It is a pretty awesome book, especially for Mario fans.  I wish they'd do a Kirby one!

Qix Review

Posted on 05/28/2019 at 09:27 PM | Filed Under Review

I remember playing Qix a few times as a kid.  I think there must've been a big Taito distributor in the early days of arcades near where I lived, because there sure were a lot of early Taito games around neaby arcades back then.

I didn't play Qix much as a kid because I didn't understand it at first, and it was kind of hard.  Also that wavy stick thing made me nervous.  I wasn't scared of it like I was SiniStar, but it was unnerving.  Plus, I usually spent my hard earned quarters playing games I was better at, so I could make my money last longer.

I think it's interseting how many sequels and spinoffs to Qix there are!  I didn't realize there were so many until I played the Taito Legends games.  I also remember the Game Boy Qix game because Nintendo published it and Mario was in it!

My brother Jeff loves the Qix games, though.  He loved that game and Elevator Action, two Taito titles I didn't get into as much, myself.

Shenmue's Blues

I think the only thing I would've done in Shenmue would be play arcade games and collect toys.  Same goes with the Yakuza game I played.  All I did was play arcade games and talk to the cute arcade lady.

I didn't do too much with the character creation in SC6, as compared to how much time I spent making characters in SC4 and 5.  I did make some really buff and strong versions of Ulala and the Ridge Racer lady, though.

Highway to the Crap Zone - Top Gun for the NES

Posted on 05/28/2019 at 09:18 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I rented this back in the day for my dad to play.  He liked to play flight simulators and enjoyed the Top Gun movie, so I figured he'd enjoy it.  Yeah we couldn't land the thing either.  Definitely one of the worst NES games ever made.  It was games like Top Gun (and also Hydlide) that taught me a lesson back then.  That lesson was: when renting games, make sure to rent two.  That way, if one is a stinker, you have another to fall back on.  Because you were stuck with those games the whole weekend!  I rented a lot of games as a kid because it only cost a buck to rent a game for a weekend, which was a lot more feasable than saving 40 bucks.  Kids just didn't have that much money back then!
