Strange New Interest in Puzzle Games

Posted on 12/27/2018 at 09:50 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I like the characters, themes, and stories of the Prof. Layton games, but many of the puzzles are like math story word problems like in your high school math book.  And I hated math in school so I definitely don't want to play a game about it.

Did you know there is a Prof. Layton cartoon anime movie?  It's really good and has puzzles in it for you to solve as well.  And the movie has a Miyazaki feel to it.

Did you know there was a 3DS game called Prof. Layton vs. Phoenix Wright?  That was really good, too.  If you like the Prof. Layton games, you may want to give the Phoenix Wright games a play.  I love those games and the ones on the DS are some of my favorite games for the system.

The sub is the hardest to control and you use it the least amount, though.

Steam Winter Sale & Aquaman

I may see if my brothers want to go see Aquaman or Bumblebee tomorrow.  Depends on how we feel.  If not, I'll go see 'em later maybe.

Yeah the Spider-Man cartoon movie is the best of the Spider-Man movies.  And I don't really like Spider-Man but I enjoyed this one.  Only problem I had is that I go see movies in 2-D, and most of the time they look fine in 2-D.  But the last two movies I saw didn't really do the transition from 3-D to 2-D effects very well.  Both this and the Grinch movie had a lot of blurry backgrounds that I could tell were meant to be seen in a 3-D glasses movie enviornment, even though these were clearly the 2-D versions I was watching.  And it's not just me that noticed this, too. The other people who went to see these movies agreed with me.

Wow you could rent 2600 games?  I don't think the local rental places around here rented anything except NES and SNES games.  Much later, when we got a Blockbuster Video, I started to see more games to rent, like for the GBA, PSOne, GameCube, etc.  But by then I wasn't renting games much anymore.

Yeah I think most of the disks my dad brought home with games for our Apple 2 were probably pirated.  But I was just a dumb kid and didn't think to question where they came from. I was just like, "Oh boy, more games!"

Yeah when I was a kid, I was interested in Greek Mythology, too.  So I wanted to try Kid Icarus on the NES.  And I hated it.  Years later I took a Greek Mythology class in college and now I don't like Greek Mythology either!

Best way to play Metal Slug games is on a home collection where you can have unlimited continues.

Athena sounds like my kind of woman, huh?  Ha ha!  Why do you say that? :)

Congrats on beating that DQ game!  I think the only DQ game that held my interest all the way through was Rocket Slime.

I wanted to get Final Fantasy Explorers, but never got around to it.  Can't play 'em all, you know?  I hear it's like the Final Fantasy answer to Monster Hunter.

Thanks!  Yeah if you can ever get your hands on a NEO GEO Pocket Color, there are a lot of good games on that.  For a very short while, I liked the NEG GEO Pocket Color more than I did the Game Boy!
