@Mongoose It certainly is still planned for the Wii U. In fact, they're planning on making it a launch title....

@Angelo I'm not even sure how that would work, but I'd be on board for it.
I remember Nick and I talking about this game a bit back and I mentioned that everything I had seen up to that point didn't look all that great. He was kind of incredulous at the time, and this trailer proves him right. I'm sorry Twisted Metal, I won't doubt you again.
It's like the love child of Okami and Kirby's Canvas Curse. I can dig it.
I'm glad that Portal is getting the love it is. It's easy to forget some of the outstanding titles that came out in the earlier part of the year, especially with the frenetic holiday season we just endured. inFAMOUS 2, L.A. Noire, Portal 2, Mortal Kombat, Dead Space 2 and a few others have been overlooked by gamers with short memories.
And @Nick, yes most sports MVP awards are voted on in that fashion, which I think makes for a much more even selection. Awards should be given for the largest appeal as opposed to a select group really loving it - which is what I believe is happening with Skyrim this year.
Mike, your comment hits home an idea for a game I've had for a while. Every zombie/survival horror game I've ever played has had some level of combat in that steered it closer to action game and away from survival.
I've always wanted to see a zombie game where you spend more time hiding/escaping from zombies than shooting them. I wouldn't remove guns completely, but imagine a game where firing a weapon resulted in attracting MORE zombies to your location. Using a bat would be preferable, and hiding from them would be even more ideal.
Also, I like the idea of trying not to get hurt at all. In all these zombie games the main character is somehow immune to contracting zombie-itis. I'd prefer if there was some kind of energy or balance gauge that depleted as you wrestle or otherwise maneuver away from an attack. If it depletes fully, you're more likely to get bitten/scratched - and then it's all over.
Fantastic story, Angelo. Super Mario Bros. 3 is the first game I remember getting on release day. My mom went out and got it with me at our local Toys R Us. It was the last game we actually played together. Sometimes I miss those simple times.
The extended console cycle is why we had so many awesome games this past year and why next year looks like it could be even better. I can't understand why people are clamoring for new, expensive consoles. Developers have shown that there is still some juice left in these machines.
El Shaddai was a game that I wanted to like, but I just couldn't get into it. I give the developers props for doing something original and the artistic direction was great - but the mechanical issues were far too prevalent for me to really enjoy the game at any length.
Still - great list. It was a fantastic year for games and gamers.
I imagine that this device was designed for use by astronauts - a very limited audience that still likes to play two generation old games on a Vita look-alike device.
