smartcelt's Gamertag to face

Hey, I recognize that last pic! And it was a bit more than a few years ago, lol. I think it's hilarious that I'm darker complected than you are, I'm 3/4 French-Canadian, which means there's a lot of Native American blood mixed in, but no one really keeps track as to how much.

Cary's Top Five Favorite Star Trek Characters!

Sigh. The first one is not boring and has a lot going for it if you give it a chance. And Deep Space Nine actually had a real story arc and character development. Voyager is my least favorite. The captain spent all her time whining and the cast were all way too PC for my taste. As for the JJ Abrams movie, I think it is an abomination and probably won't bother watching the new one.

Do we really need this?

Meh, is my feeling about it. I want my virtual entertainment to stay on the TV screen and flat, thank you. There is a wonderful 3D world out there that has a whole lot of really cool stuff in it and I'd rather not mix the two. But then again, I'm a luddite.

I wander over every now and then, add a few more games, get depressed and leave, lol. My pie chart would look like Lee's if I added all my games.

Ray Harryhausen passed today at 92

I will have to pull out my copy of The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad and join you in mourning for Harry. I saw that movie at the drive-in when I was maybe five or six and then hunted it down as an adult, first on VHS, and then on DVD. His special effects really were an art form, and took more talent than today's CGI to pull off.

Syberia

I loved this game. The sequel not so much. The story pulled me in and didn't let go, and I enjoyed how all you needed to solve the puzzles was right there, you just had to look for it. I think I only had to resort to gamefaqs once, and it was one of those "duh!" moments. The second game is worth playing for the story, but many of the screens are just visual - nothing to interact with, and leave you wondering what you've missed. Also, many of the puzzles seemed to have devolved into trial-and-error rather than giving you the necessary info so you could solve them. If you get the second game, use a walk-through and just enjoy the game for the story.

Nice thing about Syberia is that it gives you all the info you need to solve the puzzles if you're paying attention.

Saturday Night Update

Well, I think I've maybe spent an hour total gaming in the last two weeks, so don't feel bad. I go to work, I come home, I walk the dog, I eat dinner, and then I fall asleep in front of the TV on the couch. Sometimes I even wake up and manage to go to bed before morning, lol.

Cinco de Mayo

Sometimes I forget how young you are, and then you remind me and make me feel ancient, lol. I saw the orginal Star Wars in the theater with my parents when it first came out. I was eight and it was the. coolest. movie. ever. Waiting three years in between movie releases was hard. Fast forward many years and imagine my dismay when the newer three movies sucked and completely lacked any soul. I also really don't like (maybe "loathe" is a better description) JJ Abrams' Star Trek movie. If I'd never had any exposure to any of the previous series or movies, I might have liked it, but it lacked whatever the original series had. The original may be campy and Shatner's acting is over-the-top and amusing, but it had something I can't really describe.

As for Cinco de Mayo, well, up here it just seems like an excuse for people to dress up in big hats, get drunk, and act stupid.

My PS1 went to console heaven today.....

When the ancient one that was Jason's brother's (new purchase when they first came out) died on me (fourth hand-me-down owner, lol), I bought a PS1 slim new from Game Stop for $50. Everything works just the same with it as the original.
