I may have to nab a PSP just to get these two games. Oh, and "Let Us Cling Together".

Interesting topic. When buying a game, I always put an emphasis on where and when. Some games I can live without getting until a GOTY edition drops ("Skyrim") or the price hits rockbottom ("Batman: Arkham City"), while others I need on day 1, because the pre-order bonuses are so sexy I can't resist.
Portal 2 was my choice for GOTY the moment I popped it into my 360. Every single thing in that game is done so perfectly, from throwaway lines of dialogue to epic moments, Valve really hit a game-winning grand slam with that game. I have yet to play Skyrim, but I refuse to play Bethesda titles until they're updated and loaded with DLC for a reduced price in their inevitable GOTY edition.
Like Julian, I, too, have a 30 game backlog. Thankfully, I love myself too much to put "Dark Souls" on that list.
The problem with "DA2" is that the great plot and universe set up by Buoware in the original game is hardly explored. Instead, while an interesting and "ballsy" move, running around Kirkwall and its' surrounding areas does not do the franchise justice. I love the design of Kirkwall, though, sandy with strong Roman hints, dripping with the terrible slave-built history. Good stuff is found, for sure.
I'd love to see this game get a massive makeover. Remove the timer, focus the gameplay on survival and rescuing others. I can't wait forever for that zombie game Microsoft set a studio up for!
As a newbie, I must say I respectfully disagree.
I remember my mom picking this one up for me back in the day. The good old days!
