I'm so jealous! I'm gonna go to Super Nintenod World some day, just probably not this year. Anyways, the good news is that there is SO much potential for Nintendo to expand (like you said, all the non-Mario stuff), so I'm very excited to see what they do in the future.
Earthbound is also available on NSO (if you have a Switch). I grew up with the game AND the player's guide, so I never had problems such as you described. But I get it. However, you REALLY should give Earthbound another shot. Use the players's guide if you need to, but I think every gamer should experience this game becasue of its story, characters, settings, and humor.
Hm, that IS odd. Earthbound is beloved by so many because its so weird, but at the heart of the game is a story about love, friendship, and loss. By the end of the game, it feels like you've gone on a real journey, and that you've overcome something truly incredible. It's an experience I will never forget, and Mother 3 came close to that same feeling for me. I'll admit that the game IS weird and nonsensical at times, but that also makes it memorable in many ways.

The kind of humor in Mother 3 is often silly in surprising ways (it's not typical humor), something that adults can appreciate.
Just finished Metroid Prime Remastered (I was able to get a physical copy on Amazon). What a game! The graphics, gameplay, and controls are all perfect.

The original is not bad, but you should really try Star Fox 64, which is easily the best game in the series. It's on NSO if you have the expansion pass.
I actually liked Star Fox Zero, although I understand why people don't like it (the controls can be very difficult to get used to). What I didn't like was that the story was basically the same as Star Fox and Star Fox 64. The series as a whole has not been good, so the future seems to be shaky. However, I'm hopeful that Nintendo will eventually give us another game, but when is the big question.
