Nice preview, Kira!
Oh, everyone should welcome our new staff writer, Kira K. This is her first post on the site, and she hasn't made a formal introduction yet. We're glad to have you here, and I can't wait to see some more of your work!
I've decided not to make the purchase, for a sad reason. People are reporting it just has one save file, and that file can't be deleted. It really isn't a big deal for me, personally, but it's a trend I don't want to see develop in the industry, and given that, I'm not buying it.
It's a shame they didn't include Pac-Man Vs. in this. As it stands, the DS version of Namco Museum is probably a better deal, just for that, even with the new games.
I'm on the fence on it, myself. I love classic Galaga, and I don't have Legions or Legions DX, either.... Hmmm....
You can always watch the replay afterward if you want.
All right, here's the explanation:
MegaMan X Collection plays all the titles in the game in their native resolutions, which are lower than 480i resolutions. The Hauppauge PVR that I use to pick up video on my PC (which has a nifty extra feature where it also splits the signal, so I can play on a TV, but also record/upload video on my PC) does not play well with lower resolutions than 480i.
That means NES, SNES, Genesis, and even the PSX and Sega Saturn won't work correctly with this thing for now. I'm not sure what the N64's native resolution is, though.
When I first attempted to record, no video would transmit to either the TV or my PC. However, with a firmware update, somehow the PVR became able to display the lower res image on my TV screen, but the box actually doesn't believe it's displaying anything at all, and thus doesn't transmit audio. Funnily enough, when I switch from a 480i picture to a lower resolution one, for just a few moments, the recording program works on my PC and audio can also be heard, but after a few seconds, the issue resumes.
Anyway, that unfortunately means I'll either have to emulate legacy games, buy them on the virtual console, or figure out some alternative option. Since I own every original MMX title (X, 2, 3 on the SNES, 4, 5, and 6 on the PSX, and 7 and 8 on the PS2,) paired with the fact that I own Mega Man X Collection, I don't really want to buy these on the Virtual Console or Playstation Network. I may just choose to emulate from my PC or use an Emulator on the Wii to do this another day. Maybe tomorrow. We'll see what happens.
Well, live in about five minutes. Yup.
So, I took a guess as to why Capcom canceled the game on the latest PB & Jason, and apparently Capcom Europe's twitter suggests I was right: Capcom is claiming there wasn't enough fan support for the game, because few people used the Devroom.
So, there's your answer. If you want a Capcom game from here on out, you better join their own custom social network, and participate in whatever activities they create for it. This is your fault, everyone ever except Capcom!
Whoops! My babysitting adventure is gonna last about an hour long than I suspected. I hate to do this, but I'm pushing the start time back one extra hour. Sorry, guys, I didn't intend to mislead about the starting time, the sequence of events leading to the delays just kind of took off to lead to them.
Sorry guys, something came up and my plans had to change. I'll be starting later than I intended, so I hope no one made serious plans to watch this. My apologies!
