Ninja Gaiden 3 Review

Actually, I reccomend you "downgrade" to NG1. That game really had the formula perfect, and is much better than even NG2, which I've joked could be re-named "Y button" because the dismembering attack that button unleashes is way overpowered.

If you want a challenge, NG1 will hurt you.  A lot, and some of the later re-releases add a bunch of fun stuff to the mix.  the OG Xbox version of Black is playable on the 360, and can be had for peanuts.

Nothing concrete yet, but I was thinking about doing something where we talk about old games that people should know about, but not necessarily play, and perhaps play them in their stead.  Not like a Let's Play, something more literary.  I can't recommend someone actually play SaGa Frontier, or some other games like the Manna game on the Playstation, but I think they should be informed about them seeing as they are actually important titles.

This looks a lot like another crossover game I've been playing developed by Monolith Soft.  If it plays in a similar manner (and the screeshots seem to indicate it will) this could be one to watch.

I'll second this, and I'd also like to add that it's hardly the most derivative RPG title to come out in the 32 bit era.  I could never really understand the amount of hate it draws in some gaming circles.  It's a quality title that a lot of work and talent clearly went into and, as you stated, it's quite fun, which in a game really matters more than anything else.

You know if there were any issues with the 360 version? I know you didn't play it, but all the reviews I've seen were played on a PS3.  I'd be getting it for 360 if I did, and I'm interested in picking it up eventually.  Just wondered if you happened upon any additional information than I did in your travels and research.

I rather liked the sprite work actually.  It did clash with the pre-rendered backgrounds, but polygons were so primitive in the 32 bit era that I didn't mind it at all.  I wouldn't mind playing it myself.  Maybe we could set something up?

Marketing sure, but that's more than just advertising.  I think their Kevin Butler adds were great.  Much better than some of their other campaigns (annoying kid on the bus, potentially racist PSP mascots.) Their price points weren't always where they needed to be in today's market either, and some of their products were just plain stupid (PSP GO.)  In some ways, they remind me of a less self destructive version of Sega, which is scary.
