Short Update Before the World Ends

Posted on 11/08/2016 at 11:24 PM | Filed Under Blogs

One thing about this particular election is that the percentage of white voter turn-out is much higher than expected, and more than previous years, meaning they were either lying to pollsters and fucked up all the early polling data, or pollsters didn't account for this. The narrative we were fed by media (liberal media anyway) is that Trumps vitriol would turn away Republican Conservative, Religious and centrist who would either stay home in protest or vote for HC. It looks like they turned out in large numbers and gave weight DT in the end. We were fed this narrative that women and POC would have a high turn out and elect HC in response to DT rhetoric. In short, turn out is high from both POC and whites so it's very tight race.

I live in California which is typically a solid left-wing blue state election-wise, although there are some right-leaning pockets, but Republicans or Conservatism doesn't really have that much power or influence here--state-wise anyway. I took Donald Trump seriously when he first entered the race. I told everyone he would win, or at least make everything more volatile-- but the medias obsession with him is also to blame here. I follow politics closely, moreso than people around me, so I'm not surprised at what's happening at all. Digusted and disappointed, yes. Not surprised.  Most left-leaning or majority of the country probably share your sentiment. I think HC has the popular vote, but what counts is electoral votes, not majority vote which is bullshit!

Tales of Zestira is my first tales game, and it has a pretty light-hearted story and flashy combat. It was very pretty, and fun, but it dragged on a bit after a while. I wasn't that impressed with dungeon designs and aside from that you're mostly roaming open areas fighting all the things. It is very pretty though.

Is Brutal Doom 64 free? That looks like my kind of game. I need to play it.

Main Game Day!

I jumped in and out of your channel. You seemed to be having a lot of fun. I saw some Left4Dead gameplay. God I love that game! Are you getting that new level that just came out for it? I followed your stream.

Vampire The Masquerade & WestWorld

My issue w/ WW is more that the tech world bits are boring compared to the Western town. Maybe I just get drawn into Teddy/Dolores, Thandie back stories and then they get pulled out of the game/world for maintenance or whatever. Ford is great and I like Bernard, but seems a bit dry. The relationships get more interesting as the show progresses especially Ford/Bernard, Man in Black. Im up to ep5. Its all like Assasins Creed animus or whatever.

I loved VTM. The soundtrack, world, NPCs. Its fantastic!

I specifically enjoy the stories within Vampire. Combat is a bit dated. You have to spec out your character sheet for things like lockpicking, hacking, etc. and you have to decide what kind of combat you want to specialize in. It's umm...an RPG.

I started liking the WW world a lot  more after a few more re-viewings. I like how visitors interact with the theme park and how they affect/change the NPC routines. I also like how the androids are becoming more self aware and having their memories resurface, and Thandie awakening was pretty creepy and sad. I just don't really like the techie part, all the technicians babbling about upgrades and the like. They established that already in the pilot, but I feel like it interferes with the flow too much. A bit like Star Trek and the holodeck. There will be an inevitable rebellion if all the androids start waking up. I wonder if they'll stretch out the series before this happens? I like the short stories every episode anyway, so it don't matter if the rebellion comes sooner or later. The fan theories are pretty annoying too. I just want to see how it all  plays out at the end of the season. I like Thandie's performance more than Dolores. I think she conveyed her awakening a bit more believably than Evan Rachel.

Xanadu Next get!

I saw  trailers. It looks awesome. I'm definitely gonna play this soon. Have you tried Owlboy by any chance? It's pretty good if you like SNES retro games.

I think a lot of the shock from Exorcist is the little girl doing grotesque things, its still really gross though.

The Fall has a very good 1st season, then 2-3 go down the tubes. It was definitely stretched w/ little to go on and it felt that way as I made it through the last episode this week.

WW is one I need to start on. The interwebs hype machine is quite annoying with this one.

November, November....

Nice drawings! That beat up pickup truck reminds me of crime scenes from a few of the southern crime novels I've been reading lately.
I really loved the atmosphere of The Evil Within. I do remember it all feeling like a lucid nightmare, a bunch of RE set pieces surgically stitched together, bleeding at the seams and quite enjoyed it for being a mess. The only real issue I had with it was the sneak mechanics which I didn't really care for. I though the set pieces were beautifully gross.

Halloween is the only holiday I care about. I don't actually celebrate it, (candy, costumes, etc.) but the atmosphere and mood that people get into is what I like the most. I walked around my neighborhood yesterday and saw a lot of Harly Quinns which was pretty cool. Saw lots of anime cosplay as well. I generally enjoy horror media all year round.

My favorite horror movie is The Exorcist, although its more of real-life type of depiction not so much the slasher film variety. I love re-reading the novel and actually I'm enjoying the new TV show that is a continuation of the first film/book, so it's canonical it seems.I also love Exorcist 3 as a crime story. Again, more real than slasher film.
My other favorite horror film is Rob Zombies Halloween II, but more-so because its more of a real depiction of someone surviving through trauma of a serial killer. I remember feeling uncomfortable watching it when it debuted at the time, not so much fun, but sad. Even though it has some ghosts and super powered wrestler Myers, I love the performance from Laurie Strode.
Have you watched the TV show 'The Fall'? It's a british crime drama about a strangler. It's very disturbing, but quite a good cat and mouse show, the first season at least. Had a hard time watching a lot of it.

Also...family during holidays is some real cognitive dissonance shit right there. Undecided
