Xbox One Impressions

Those are the only two instances I can think of in which an online connection is absolutely vital. Everything else--streaming, social connectivity, achievements, etc.--are just unnecessary garnish IMO. Nice to have, but not vital to every gaming experience by a long shot.

The only other logical explanation is DRM. In fact, THIS is probably why they won't be charging the rumored fee on second hand copies--it'll probably just stop the game from playing after 24 consecutive hours or something. *sigh*

On second thought, scratch that. It WILL need Kinect at all times according to IGN.

It's only an hour, so it shouldn't take too long. Why it was so short, I have no idea, but...

True. Hopefully we get confirmation either which way soon, or at least at E3.

XBOX ONE is not the one.

Oh, it was aimed at gamers alright. Namely the hardcore sports and COD fans. It was a far cry from the diverse range of content and games showcased by Sony back in February--you'd think MS would want to match that, and would easily be able to 3 months later. But I guess not.

Well, the rumors about Kinect being built in and having backwards compatibility were debunked. And they did say straight out that the console won't be always online. So there's that.

XBOX ONE is not the one.

LOL glad I'm not the only one who laughed at that voice command. :p

And yeah. I'm not interested in a console that's supposed to be a water cooler, a cable box that plays games or a "Trojan Horse". I want a console that's built around a strategy that's "console first", and MS clearly has no interest in that anymore. This was a disappointment.

They have cover for it now that MS has made the plunge. And if that money goes to the publishers and developers, they aren't going to be complaining either. I was hoping that neither of them would pull something like this out of fear of being the odd man out, but alas... *sigh*

I'm sure that they'll have an option to turn the features off. Since Kinect isn't built in, you could probably just not connect it too. At least, I hope so... :p
