You do WHAT now?

Posted on 03/02/2013 at 11:09 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I have this conversation with myself at times. I constantly ask myself whether I should give gaming up because while I love the hell out of it, the reality is that it doesn't matter and I spend way too much time on it. Then I think about the other things in my life: Reading, TV, drinking, friends, and the reality is that none of my hobbies really matter, they just make me happy. If something makes you happy (unless it's something heinous like having sex with animals) nobody has any right to take it away from you. Then again, 90 percent of people are ignorant assholes who think every single person on earth should be the same as them.

NOT METAL?! WHAT IS THIS BLASPHEMY?!

Nah I do quite like Alan Holdsworth. A bit sick of him now because I played "Devil Takes Hindmost" for music in my hsc.

I suppose. I'd rather that than it be strictly a pretentious affair.

No, I countered your points and argued with you. Maybe read them again? I didn't agree with you for half of them lol.

I have to disagree. They make bad business choices, sure, but they are far from the worst things about the industry.

There definitely are! For every point on this list there are counterpoints. The problem is that these games are few and far between, and definitely not what the general public thinks of when they think of video games.

Eh. This may be counter productive to my argument, but bayonetta is much better. God of War is all about spectacle as opposed to proper depth, and could very much have fit into my cinematic games argument as well.

Ok, so with immaturity, a few things need to be clarified. To me, South Park and Archer aren't immature, despite having some juvenile humour, because it's handled intelligently and often leading somewhere. Brutal Legend is the same, as it is very much a parody of the over seriousness of metal music as a whole.

Immaturity to me is a game like Duke Nukem Forever, Dead or Alive, or God of War.

I'm sorry, but that doesn't matter. If you want to snipe someone, it's necessary. Any button combination that tedious is unjustifiable, especially if it's something you'll use often.

Yeah,  you have to press like L1, R1 and Triangle. It's ridiculous. I liked the game, up until after a breathtaking finale that instead of ending the game, introduced 16 thousand epilogues, each progressively worse than the last.
