BaD day 8: on the subject of podcast editing.

I *think* I may have cracked the code this week. Patrick and I finally got our Yeti mics on the same page, and we were all able to record directly into audacity with no problems this time. That allows me to mute any background noise on individual feeds, as well as avoid any issues with the call quality on Skype. Let me know if you see an improvement, because I think the new episode sounds fantastic.

I understand your point. There seems to be a split down the middle for long and short podcasts. I listen to a lot of shows as well, but I prefer longer shows. Like, I'm sad when the Giant Bombcast is under 3 hours.

I'm trying to keep the show around 2 hours this year. The episode going up today is 2 hours 15 minutes, but the last 5 is outtakes. I'm thinking that if we have episodes that hover around the 3 hour mark I am going to split them in half, like we did last year with episode 65 and 65.5.

Episode 80: It's Like GTA Meets...

If you start with with the beginning of the New 52 Batman you will be fine. Snyder spends the first 12 issues establishing the Court of Owls, which is a totally new addition to the Batman universe, while helping you understand some of the "Bat Family" workings. The weird thing about the New 52 is that everything was started fresh except for Green Lantern and Batman, which makes the continuity kind of wonky. But the Joker doesn't show up until after the Court of Owls stuff, and it's one of the better takes on the character.

Do you feel like you see a lot of cutscenes these days? I feel like a lot of video game storytelling is now done in engine, and with audio logs and such that you can ignore if you want. I'm not saying that I want to go back to PS2 RPG days where you wouldn't control a character until 30 minutes into the game, but I find myself missing true cutscenes.

What you want from GTA is what I've been begging for pretty much since 3. When I thought it was going to be like Shenmue with actual named characters I thought it would be awesome if you could find some high-level mob moss just doing his business and assassinate him to take over. It would be super hard to do, but if you could it would change the game. True emergent gameplay right there. Also, the concept of having an overall notoriety that is separate from your wanted level would be really cool. Imagine going shopping and getting noticed by a beat cop. What do you do in that situation?

We have a facebook page, but it is dead. I've been thinking of resurrecting it, but first I want to iron out the audio problems we've been having.

Thanks! I may be doing more of these cutting room floor bonus episodes in the future. I also am starting to formulate the beginning of a possible idea on changing the format of the show.

The recent PS4 release is the way to go. It looks great and it has trophy support. I thought they had redone the translation on the PC release, but I guess I was wrong. The translation of that game doesn't hold up well, and in truth was not great at the time if I'm being honest.

Best training mode ever. I went from a total novice to being able to hold my own thanks to the way the game teaches you.

I really love the editing and producing of the show. I've just been frustrated lately. I've sunk a lot of money into the podcast in the past year and feel like I don't have much to show for it. I do think that I've ironed out some of the kinks from the past few episodes, so I'm hopeful for tomorrow's recording.

BaD day 6: stream of consciousness

Hmm. I hadn't heard that Rise had sold poorly. Looking into it, it seems like the game sold a million units in its first month. While that is lower than the 2013 game it is on a single platform that isn't the industry leader. I think it will end up doing just fine over the game's life, and it certainly deserves to.

Man, I loved that show! I've looked up clips as an adult and still enjoy it. It was Laugh-In, but for kids in the 80s.

BaD day 4: tv time.

When it comes to movies, I think Marvel is killing it, with DC far behind. When it comes to TV, I prefer the CW shows for DC. I loved Daredevil and Agent Carter, but I have become increasingly disappointed with Agents of SHIELD, and really didn't like Jessica Jones. I'm still watching SHIELD, but missed the last couple of episodes before the break and haven't felt like getting caught up. Which is a shame, because I love Coulson.
