Quick What I'm Playing Update Before I Watch Batman vs. Superman

I'm working on my review of the LEGO Midway Arcade pack right now.  It's not what I expected it would be!

Zelda: A Link to the Comics

I remember the comics in Nintendo Power but I never got into them that much for some reason.  I did read them, but I preferred reading the reviews and previews more.  I did like Howard and Nester, though, because it was so stupid.  I am proud to say that I did meet Howard Phillips once in person.  Nintendo should bring back Nester.  I know he's been in some games in the past, like Nester's Funky Bowling, Pilotwings 64, and NES Play Action Football.

All Star Slammin' D-Ball and Sacred 3

Super Dodge Ball on the NES is one of my favorite sports video games ever.  In fact, it was my number one favorite sports game until Wii Sports came along.  I did get that All-Star Slammin' D-Ball game when it came out.  The neat thing about the PSOne is that right before it faded away, lots of companies put out cheapy little games for it, and sometimes they could be fairly decent.  Unfortunately, the D-Ball game was not one of them.  It wasn't near as good as Super Dodge Ball on the NES.

If you want to play a GOOD Super Dodge Ball game, I recommend tracking down the NES version.  They also made a Game Boy Advance one called Super Dodge Ball Advance that I liked a lot as well.  There is also one on the DS, but I didn't like it as much for some reason.  A lot of people like the Super Dodge Ball game on the NEO GEO, but I'm not a fan because you have to input fighting game moves to make the ball do stuff, so I'm not as good at it.  On the Xbox 360's indie game section, you can also download a game that plays like Super Dodge Ball called Downtown Smash Dodgeball, but I don't know if it's still there.  The thing about all these dodgeball games that I've mentioned is that they were made by Technos or former employees of Technos, so they all play the same and are very good.  Technos also made the River City Ransom games and the same characters are also in Super Dodge Ball.

Happy 55th birthday Reggie

I never met Reggie but I must've passed close by him at E3 one year because I StreetPassed him on my 3DS.  This was when the 3DS first came out, so later when they sent out Special Miis via Spotpass, Reggie didn't count as a Special Mii for me because I had already got him!  I think that same E3 I also StreetPassed Yuji Naka.

A few E3's later, I did get to see him and Miyamoto up on stage at the Nintendo press conference where they announced Wii U games like Nintendo Land.

I did get to meet two other Nintendo greats in person, though.  Howard Phillips and Charles Martinet.

Will Nintendo to cease Wii U production in late 2016?

Posted on 03/23/2016 at 10:22 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Well if Nintendo is denying the claim, then that's who I'm going to believe.  But, they may only be denying it so that Wii U owners and 3rd party and indie developers and stockholders don't jump ship.  And there's nothing that says they can't change their mind and stop production later in the year.

I really like the Wii U.  It has more interesting games than the PS4 and Xbox One right now for me anyway.  And I don't have anything against Sony and Microsoft.  I had a PS3 and 360 and enjoyed the 360 more than the original Wii!  But then, I also really liked the GameCube, so maybe I don't have good tastes in consoles?

What If: Batman v. Superman Scenarios of the Past

You know what I liked about Superman Returns?  The bad guys.  Lex Luthor was funny and his silly lady sidekick was even funnier.  When Superman was flying around in that movie, I was always wondering what Lex Luthor and his silly sidekick was up to.  If I were a bad guy, I would want to have a sidekick like her.

A Red Letter Day: Games We Revisit

When I was a kid, I used to replay games all the time.  I don't know if it's because I didn't have as many games or not as many games came out, or if they were just shorter (maybe a bit of all three).  I would replay games a lot up until after college.  Once I had to start doing 'adult' things, I have had less time to replay games.

I will start by saying that most arcade games I can replay over and over again, but that's due to their nature.  Just recently I played and finsihed the HD version of Twilight Princess, which is much better than when I played it on the Wii nearly ten years ago!

If I were to replay another older game, right now I would consider A Link Between Worlds.  Mainly because it's pretty short and easy, and it's also a lot like Link to the Past, a game I replayed a lot as a kid, because I could.

I didn't know A Boy and His Blob was on the Vita.  I have it on the Wii.
