That's kind of a silly way to look at it. New technology and shifts in consumer demands has shaped and changed gaming. Sony's PS3 and PS4 are a reflection of those changes, much like the 360 was. The only company really clinging to the "good ol' days" is Nintendo and that has provided for some rough times for them.
And honestly, if you feel Microsoft changed gaming negatively, you can't possibly look at the PS4 as something you want then. It's effectively a system built on the strengths and legacy of the 360, not the PS3. Furthermore, you should be happy about Sony's temporary fall from grace. In that time frame they built up a power house of development and expanded their IP dramatically. They are much better placed as a result of it and will benefit going forward.
Truthfully though, you really shouldn't get so vested in the "console war." Competition is good. You don't want companies to get blown away because it ultimately has no benefit for the consumer.
