Retro Game of the Week: Sonic Spinball

Was expecting a better score since so many people love this game, but I definitely believe you. Still, I'd like to play it for myself.

Calaca is just annoying me because every time I get a couple tiny hits on him he gets a new shield. Those stalactites don't really do much either. Or hit him before he gets a shield thing. I know I'm missing a strategy here.

We have enough shitty ones, but I'd like a nature documentary packaged as a reality show fine. They did that with prairie dogs, I believe. Remember watching that show in high school Biology.

Trust me, I don't like reality television any more than you when it's Big Brother, etc.

I'm probably the only person who never saw the appeal of Fallout 3 and isn't pants-over-the-moon excited for 4. I AM interested in all the cool stuff Playstation announced, but I'm disappointed Cuphead is an Xbone exclusive, unless I can get it to run on my laptop on Steam. Also very surprised Xbone is now backwards compatible, which is much better than PS Now for PS4. But holy crap, Cuphead looks cool. If only I had the means for Wii U and Xbone.

I agree Nintendo was a bit lackluster. Star Fox Zero looks like Star Fox 2 on Wii U, which is cool, but I was hoping they'd reveal something big like a new Metroid or more Zelda news, maybe a new IP. Oh well.

A lot of them started when they had full-time jobs, so there's till hope.

As for Guacamelee, I feel like it's only all that hard on ocassion. I do like that it respawns you right where you were if you fall off a ledge, but that does make the game easier. Not to say there haven't been a few times where brawls have really stumped me or taken a lot of tries, but I think the checkpoints are pretty generous. Once I figure out Calaca's patterns, I should be fine.

You should make a reality show around those ospreys.

So it turns out that the Souls games are connected after all?

As someone who doesn't play these games (yet), I would be interested in a sci-fi settings. I think the dark medieval setting is fine, but in any series it's nice to get a fresh coat of paint.

That was my favorite part of E3 too. Along with friggin' robot dinosaur huntin'! Made me confident I bought the right console in PS4. It sucks you didn't get to go, Cary. I would have read your blogs.

I'll admit, I only really watched the Nintendo World Championship footage (well, a few minutes of it) to see how Egoraptor/Arin Hanson did, but I do think the competition winners should get a fair shake. But maybe part of the prize for those kids was meeting and competing against their favorite YouTubers? As South Park pointed out recently, these kids are more interested in YouTube celebrities than ones in TV and movies sometimes. I've seen it myself at SGC.

I was most looking forward to Star Fox as far as Nintendo, and what stood out to me was that two-legged vehicle from Star Fox 2. Maybe this game will be a remake of that unreleased title? Otherwise, Nintendo didn't interest me that much this year. It's cool Ryu is in Smash, I guess.

That game with Shovel Knight and Guacamelee in it sounds fun. I'll have to check it out. I'm atcually at Calaca in Guacamelee as we speak.

If The Last Guardian and Horizon made me excited to be a PS4 owner, the announcement of Xbox One being backwards compatible miffed me a bit. I actually like Sony's PS Now feature, but it would be cheaper to just buy the physical copies of games I want than pay $20 for streaming access and be more reliable too. Xbox One just gained a huge asset imo. Some people are upset they didn't say something sooner though.

Dude, clip art Clippers. Come on, it's perfectly matched to the theme of the team. Seriously though, I shouldn't be a designer, because I honestly quite like the simplicity of the logo. Definitely don't think it looks hideous. Then again, sports uniforms and logos are oftentimes things I'm in the minority on, so who knows?

Game announced that surprised me most was...

Yeah, I knew they weren't connected in the sense of a direct sequel, I just meant I thought the team that developed the Dark Souls series was going to start focusing on other series. I've never played any of those games, so I'm out of the loop. I would like to get Bloodborne though.
