I've Hit Rock Bottom! Somebody Save Me!

I don't know about prestige, but challenging games engage me more. They require more focus, thought, and attention to information..  Right now I'm playing Armored Core V: Verdict Day, and some of the missions are kicking my ass, but I keep playing them over and over to complete all the subquests, trying out different combinations of parts.  I don't get that kind of intense involvement with Shadow of Mordor, AC: Unity, or Dragon Age Inquisition, and thus their simplistic systems and shallow content feel redundant.

I play for challenge, ultimately. If a game doesn't provide it, it is redundant and mundane to me.  An interesting aesthetic and catchy music rounds out the package. So that means only about 5% of games interest me. Divinity: OS is one of them, but I don't have time for a large RPG now.

I thought you were serious for a second and visualized stranging you with your own intestines.

Illinois, Chicago and surrounding burbs. We go in to cut down and burn buckthorn, which the preserves near my home are overrun with. I signed up for some other woods further away, maybe they offer up some other varieties. I'll know in two weeks.

Good luck on the snowshoe thing and job search.

I've been volunteering for forest preserve restoration lately, removing invasive plant species in the woods in my area. I also signed up for what they call Trail Watch training.  Made me think of you and your rangering. I feel quite suited for working in hostile weather conditions and wild terrain. I get off on it, actually, like its some Viking test of will or something.  There is something primeval and even spiritual about it. Well, not during the peak of summer, which I find oppressive.  I'm thinking I wouldn't mind doing stuff like this for a living in cold country.

Game backlogs are a bad idea, and die all you trolls!

Don't get me started. I call it the "tyranny of consensus" in gaming. It leads to garbage like the Spike VGA awards. It's just a popularity contest, basically. I don't even think the majority of people involved with games can even analyze game design on a deeper level. Marketing, politics and group think supercede cogent analysis.

You've got to tell me the game that people jumped on you for. I think I have an idea. PM me if you don't want to post it publicly. I'm glad I wasn't in that chat. It would have been war.  Most Twitch chats I've been in, people respect differing opinions, for the most part.

I suck at tennis in all its forms. Was always intrigued by the sport though.

Rambo was pretty fun. One has to keep in mind that The SMS didn't have games that could compete with similar games on the NES. So if you wanted a run and gun game, Rambo was the closest you could get to the quality of Contra.

You always find the most obscure console games. I like it.  I usually go to PC for stuff like this, but I should keep my eyes open when it comes to console game selection.
