Episode 63: Killer Community Cuts

Posted on 01/25/2015 at 08:22 PM | Filed Under Feature

So, I watched a 4 man speedrun race of Super Metroid last year.  It was awesome, and made me feel very inadequate as far as my Super Metroid skills were concerned.  I had been working on a Metroid Fusion speedrun a couple of years ago.  It was quite a bit of fun.  My best time for Fusion had been 80 or so minutes and I was hoping to get down to 75 or less.  I was kicking as on my last run, but skipped one too many energy tanks, and was having issues getting past one of the sequences where SA-X chases you.

I thought there was something else I wanted to say...  I can't remember.

I grabbed Shadow Warrior for the PS4 because it was $6.  I also grabbed the Super Turbo Edition thing of Guacamelee.

The Only Holograms I care about are Jem and the Holograms!

Ah, I should probably replay the Prime Trilogy.  Prime 2 is one of my favourite games of all time.  Prime is awesome and all, but there is something about Prime 2 that I like just a little better.

I will most likely watch Jupiter Ascending.  It looks so... weird.  I am sure to love it.

What you also need to remember is that Destiny is ever-evolving.  At this point the game is failry different than the game that launched back in September and it will continue to change.  There was some leaked information as far as what Bungie;s plasn are with the game.  From that information, it looks as though the game could be drastically different by the end of 2015.

I understand the issues with Destiny, and I will not defend some of their design choices...  where the hell is couch co-op?  I think that the actual gameplay is solid, some of the best I have seen in recent memory. I ended up avoiding most of the hype around the game, and recieved what I expected from the game, solid gameplay with a paper-thin excuse of a story.

Sorry, I just can't seem to put the game down...  I do want to.

I truly lucked out as far as Vita memory cards are concerened.  I may have mentioned it before, but I got a 32gb for about $45 a long time ago.

I have been debating about getting another one,  just for PSone Classics.

I actually only grabbed issues 1 and 2 of ODY-C.  That was actually mostly John Gholson's fault.  But Patrick made some comment about missing out on the first issue of Image comics.  I couldn't let that pass me by.

I did stumble upon some other stuff by Warren Ellis and Mark Millar that piqued my interest, but I will have to wait until trades come out because they were on the 6th issue or so and the store didnt have the 5th issue anymore.

As far as Sex Ciminals, I looked at it briefly and will most likely come back to it in the near future.

This was a fun episode to listen to...

It also sent me back to the comic book shop to pick up some new stuff.

I completely agree that the top three Zelda games are ALttP, ALBW, and Link's Awakening.  I also agree that the rest of the games can go in whatever order after that.

I think that I have come to realize that I love Doctor Who regardless.  It doesn't matter the doctor, format or even quality.

I am not sure how this happened, but I started listening to Podcast Beyond from IGN around the time that Velocity 2X was about to come out.  They kept talking about Velocity Ultra and how awesome it was.  I found out that I had it on my Vita from last years flash sales.  That game was awesome.

What A Disappointing Year

I am inclined to agree about the second half of 2014.  Nothing came out that had must-play writtten all over it for me.  Which is probably why I sank more time than I am willing to admit into Destiny.

The first half of the year was significantly better with inFamous and Wolfenstein.  Wolfenstein might not make it into my top 20 games of all time, but I enjoyed it so much that it might be sitting somewhere between 20 and 30.
