Unity is an incredible engine. I've been toying with it in my free time and I'm just blown away by how easy they've made everything. I'm certain I could program a game from scratch if I needed to, but the fact that they've made all of it visual makes it so much easier for non-programmers to get in there and do their thing. Hell, it makes it easier for me too. It's awesome.
Ha! Don't worry man, we have one - and it's free! In case you haven't heard of it already, I present to you Cheap Ass Gamer!
This sounds incredibly awesome. I'm going to have to download and play this one very soon! Great review, Ryan.
If you want to come here at work (this applies to anyone in the same situation), try visiting http://pixlbit.dyndns.org instead. That's how I browse at work!
Agreed. I'm not really condoning his behavior, I just think I understand why, and as a result I'm giving him more of a pass than others are. I also hate most of the game media and I think they act like a bunch of entitled cocks, so part of the pass I'm giving Phil is due to my general hatred of "game journalists."
You know, I don't dislike Phil Fish. I'm not sure he's the kind of guy I could hang out with, but I can see why he is the way he is. I think he's got a lot going on in his head and quite frankly, I think he's a bit unstable. It could've just been the editing, but Indie Game: The Movie really showcased a man that was unsure of himself, his creation, and in some ways, his reason for living.
I think his constant bullshit spouting is a defense mechanism and I also think he uses it as a tool. Like I said, I don't see someone with confidence there and I think in his mind if he diverts attention to himself and away from his game, people won't see all of the "flaws" that he can see. Just a theory, but I think it makes some sense.
Also (last point, I swear), I think this latest stunt is a means for him to work on Fez II in peace and outside of the eye of the media. He can avoid talking about it (because it's not in production ) and the upcoming consoles (because he's not developing games anymore ).
Yup, I got cursed in this spot as well. It sucked the first time, but I trekked back, cured my curse and proceeded to kick ass afterwards. I got cursed one other time much later in the game because I was being careless, but I won't spoil the situation that caused it right now.
Stick with it, man - this is just a temporary slow down that you'll easily get past!
I feel the same way. Those gore fest movies aren't for me in the slightest. As a matter of fact, I think our rampant obsession with gruesome violence is much worse than any amount of sexuality we work into our media, but that's a different discussion for a different day.
Reality is, if I don't care for a particular type of entertainment, I'm not going to consume it. I'm not going to throw a fit about it, I'm not going to ask for it to be censored, and I'm not going to shame other people for liking it.
