Yeah, this is one of Nintendo's first remakes, if not THE first. And you'll be seeing plenty of other Nintendo remakes on this list in the coming weeks. 

Whoa dude, sounds like you need some father/daughter time around Mario All-Stars. That would be some great bonding time.

True, it's a collection, but each game was overhauled for a new system, so yeah, it counts. 

The graphics are great! Love the snes look. 

Sounds like they would be interesting. He must be a genius to single-handedly make such great games. 

I think at this point it would be best to skip the original and give the remake a try. 

The original game looks very dated now, but back in 1984 it must have been really cool. I wouldn't know, though, because I wasn't around back then. 

Yes, having the protagonist move gives a sense of progression in the adventure. 

It is a bit repetitive as the whole game is fighting. However, you fight different opponents, which inolves using different strategies. It's certainly not a long game. Not sure how much it costs, but it's probably $10 at most.
