Wait, unlimited? I thought you got about 7? I guess you can change it. I know you get unlimited in Shinobi III.
Of course, I'm playing on Genesis Mini so if you're playing on original hardware, maybe some things are different?

Now I want to find a group with whom to play Jeopardy!
I always start at the default start level and have made my way through the lava level (second in that lineup) to get to the boss, but the boss gets me every time.
It's definitely more approachable than other shooters though and you get a pretty good number of continues.
Apparently, you can do the same thing with a fake field goal.
I definitely need to DL some sports titles on my Genesis Mini. Starting with the Mutant League titles.
I have no idea if it's the general rule, but Hard Corps gives you a life bar in the Japanese version and I've had a MUCH easier time with the Japanese version of Dynamite Headdy. Most games are about the same from what I've played, but those two stand out, difficulty-wise.
I notice quite a few differences, especially in the graphics and sound department, but I don't remember as many people pointing those differences out at the time. I was also 1 year old when SNES hit North America though, so I probably just missed those conversations. And I would imagine a lot of SNES RPGs were pretty expensive, cause they probably had some extra shit in the cartridge to display what they did. A lot of them really impress me in the tech department.
And like I said, Contra is just one of those games I think is too damn hard for its own good, unless it's the NES game with the Konami code and like 30 lives.
Yup. If you have the Genesis Mini, just change the language settings and you'll also see better box art for several games. Dynamite Headdy is also easier and Mean Bean Machine becomes Poyo Poyo. Not sure if the other games are really all that different aside from language, but it's still the feature I'm most impressed by on the console.
You can even make Hard Corps become PROBOTECTOR (PAL regions) if you want (that one is just a name change and pallet swap IIRC).
I need to watch Community period. Never seen it before. I started episode 1 some time ago, but work distracted me.
The Last Dance is good so far, but as someone who was not really super aware of what was happening during the time period as an 8-year-old, I am hoping they go into more depth in the later episodes ... and of course they will. I'd say I enjoyed watching the first two episodes but didn't necessarily find them riveting, but it's such a big deal from my childhood I'll definitely watch the rest.
I can definitely see why people might enjoy it more than SNES Contra (see my newest blog for reference ... apologies for all the scrolling you might need to do to ge there), and plan to give it a second chance but I'm playing the Japanese version on my Mini. Love having a health bar instead of just insta-death.
See, I actually disagree with all of that, while still understanding why someone would prefer the SNES Mini.
Mega Man: The Wiley Wars imo is a lesser version of the Mega Man NES games (I'd prefer just having Mega Man 2 NES to the entire Wiley Wars package), I don't care about turn-based combat games like FFVI, and Mario Kart just does not hold up graphically at all ... and yet, you see these SNES games head-to-head with the Genesis library and you think, "OK yeah, SNES had the better library ... by a lot."
SNES quality is insane. Genesis Mini variety is still better. So much personal taste involved!
Mood while fighting the Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo boss:
20-30 minutes?! They put in a story element to tell me this boss should last 20-30 minutes?! And what is hitting me? How? Ok, now I'm just healing every ten seconds. How do I dodge ALL these missiles? I ... wha? RED NUMBERS.
So Julian, have you played Jedi: Fallen Order? It's pretty sweet. I'm actually happy I've died a couple times trying to pull stupid run and gun shit, cause the enemies are placed in such a way and combat done in such a way I think I know how to overcome the adversity. It's nice.
