Spoils The Last of Us

I was thinking about this very thing earlier today. I think that there are definitely some game mechanics and systems they could have put in with more powerful hardware, but I really think that my personal issues with the design--having so many guns available and enemies absorbing bullets, etc.--were simply decisions made by the devs.

I'd like to own 4-6 machines some day, but if you twist my arm it would be Street Fighter Alpha 3.

2013: The Buys, the Waits, the Avoids

Totally on board with your buys and waits. GTA V and Watch_Dogs are day one purchases for me, though. Watch_Dogs is actually one of the games I'm for sure buying with my PS4. Having never played any of the Assassin's Creed games, IV looks interesting to me, simply because I haven't burned myself out on the series, so it's all new to me. That's probably why I enjoyed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2 so much, because they were my first two COD games.

This just reminds me how I missed out on PC gaming, and how Avernum: Escape From the Pit was a bad experience for me.

This game made me have an existential gaming crisis. I actually was so bummed out after reviewing it that I couldn't play anything for a couple weeks.

I've been twice, and missed out on the past couple times it's been to town, which is a bummer. Tommy is totally cool. The second time I met him I asked him to sign the EGM that has the ad for his video game music album. He got a big kick out of that, and showed it to all of his people.

An Open Letter To Square Enix: We Need To Break Up

Good piece. I completely disagree with everything you say about X, but to each his own.

I'm just curious how you can begin by saying how much you love the SNES Final Fantasy games and not like FF IX. At the time, people hated that game because it "wasn't a real Final Fantasy game." Those people of course had only played VII and VIII up to that point.

Kellam from Fire Emblem: Awakening. I'm big, but easily ignored.

Episode 26: The Hard Goodbye

I'm really not worried about Witcher 3 at all, because it seems like the logical extension of what CD Projeckt Red has been doing. It's not like they're going from 0-100 here. More like from 70-100.

Dragon Age 3 concerns me a lot more. I don't know how much money the EA overlords are going to let them play with after The Old Republic (even though you could make a strong case that it was EA overlords that are responsible for TOR and Dragon Age 2). If they get to really build a compelling world and it doesn't smack of EA forcing the game to be streamlined for that foolish grabbing of a larger audience that isn't there then it could be amazing. The backstory of Thedas is already wonderful. Now we just need a game that lets us explore it.
