I need to watch Community period. Never seen it before. I started episode 1 some time ago, but work distracted me.
The Last Dance is good so far, but as someone who was not really super aware of what was happening during the time period as an 8-year-old, I am hoping they go into more depth in the later episodes ... and of course they will. I'd say I enjoyed watching the first two episodes but didn't necessarily find them riveting, but it's such a big deal from my childhood I'll definitely watch the rest.

I can definitely see why people might enjoy it more than SNES Contra (see my newest blog for reference ... apologies for all the scrolling you might need to do to ge there), and plan to give it a second chance but I'm playing the Japanese version on my Mini. Love having a health bar instead of just insta-death.

See, I actually disagree with all of that, while still understanding why someone would prefer the SNES Mini.
Mega Man: The Wiley Wars imo is a lesser version of the Mega Man NES games (I'd prefer just having Mega Man 2 NES to the entire Wiley Wars package), I don't care about turn-based combat games like FFVI, and Mario Kart just does not hold up graphically at all ... and yet, you see these SNES games head-to-head with the Genesis library and you think, "OK yeah, SNES had the better library ... by a lot."
SNES quality is insane. Genesis Mini variety is still better. So much personal taste involved!

Mood while fighting the Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo boss:
20-30 minutes?! They put in a story element to tell me this boss should last 20-30 minutes?! And what is hitting me? How? Ok, now I'm just healing every ten seconds. How do I dodge ALL these missiles? I ... wha? RED NUMBERS.
So Julian, have you played Jedi: Fallen Order? It's pretty sweet. I'm actually happy I've died a couple times trying to pull stupid run and gun shit, cause the enemies are placed in such a way and combat done in such a way I think I know how to overcome the adversity. It's nice.

To each their own. I find the gags cheesy but charming. The editing could use some work though, as they do hold too long on those gags too long and the early videos aren't the best quality. Mileage varies.
Agreed on the mini consoles though. The Genesis is a better package so far as hardware and variety and I was floored when I found out you could switch game versions by changing the language. The Japanese box art is so much better on several games, too.

Yeah, it got pretty massive since there were 73 or abouts games! And having not had a Sega growing up, I agree it has some great stuff!
Sound is where Genesis is really hit or miss. I love pretty much everything about it in Shinobi III and music that's more dance or rap oriented works great on Genesis, but I had to look up an original arcade edition of Strider to make sure that was the intended noise and was surprised to find out that, yes. To Sega's credit, it is totally true to the arcade. Why anyone thought that was the SFX to go with, I will never know.

Strong female presence, huh? I'm gonna need a TLoU 2 spoilercast when it drops. Also, holy shit, that drops in May. Next month. Crazy.
Anyway, just to clarify the buying too many games thing, I think you and Justin were in the mindset of physical copies of games. I meant digital games, which are either always going to be there or I won't have a license to if they're not. Not the same value proposition in my opinion.
I mean I guess you could argue not downloading P.T. is a regret ... yeah, never downloading P.T. is a regret.

Wait, what happened with The Last of Us and which episode was that?
I'm not too far into this episode (Julian is talking about games he sold from his GameFellas days) but I'll go ahead and do
STAGE SELECT:
Ken's stage music makes me happy in an inspired way, like I'm ready to go to the gym and actually enjoy it.
I only ever rented Cool Spot for SNES and have very little memory of it, but this Genesis version of a Tommy Tallarico song came up in a Console Wars (YouTube channel) video and it just makes me laugh that something quality like this was put in a game about a 7up mascot who didn't make it out of the 90s. And that the game was actually pretty decent too.
CAGE MATCH:
It has been a long time since I played either and both of these franchises have enough arcade cabinets I can't be totally sure we're on the same page here, but I remember more friends wanting to play TMNT and that made it more fun.
Plus, what are The Simpsons going to do? Have Marge scold the turtles for using real weapons in a kids' movie? I bet that whole controversy was based on a letter campaign from Marge Simpson. Go turtles.
