Well -I- haven't forgotten about those IPs! Nintendo may have, but not me!
I always preferred Joust over Balloon Fight, so I'd rather have a 3-D version of Joust. Just thought it was more imaginative and controlled better. Sorry Iwata! I actually heard a long time ago they were planning a Joust 3-D game but it got canned.
I rented StarTropics once and didnt like it. I just didn't think it was that good.
My brother Jeff LOVED Excitebike when he first played it as a kid. The game certainly got a bit more love on the Wii and 3DS.
I talked about Pilotwings in my most recent podcast because my dad loved it. I liked the Pilotwings stage in Smash.
I loved the Game & Watch Gallery series! It seemed to kind of die off once WarioWare hit the scene. Did you know TOSE made those G&W Gallery games? They also made the Starfy games. Now THAT'S a forgotten Nintendo IP!
I'm working on reviewing a game right now called Biomotor Unitron that made me think of Custom Robo.
I love the Chibi Robo games! I didn't think Zip Lash was THAT bad, but it certainly was the weakest of the series. I doubt the Chibi Robo games will come back anytime soon, especially since the company who made them, Skip, has seemingly quietly gone out of business.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong is actually a sequel to the Donkey Kong game on Game Boy, which to this day is one of the best arcade updates ever. I liked the Mini Mario games because I also like Lemmings. I'm surprised we haven't seen a Switch version yet.
If you want to play another Donkey Konga game, just play Taiko Drum Master or any of its sequels. They're pretty much the same games. Donkey Konga was even made by Namco. I think Nintendo just wanted a piece of the pie from Taiko's popularity, and commissioned Namco to make one for them.
