May 2024 Recap

You know about the new Picross S game from Jupiter, right?  It features all Namco games and characters.  It's like the SEGA one they had a couple of years ago, but Namco instead.

In my town, the Dragon Warrior cartoon came on at 4 in the morning so I wasn't going to get up for that.

One thing I forgot to mention that you brought up was when NBC stopped showing cartoons in favor of news and stuff.  I remember when that happened.  I got up in the morning to watch the Super Mario World cartoon and it wasn't on!  Oh well, guess I'll just play the game instead.  That's the reason why Garfield and Friends and Muppet Babies didn't have any seasons after that.  Not due for a lack of popularity, that's for sure.

Yes, I’m still gaming.

Good to hear from you again.  My brother Jeff loved that DQ Builders game.

Yes Garfield and Friends is one of my top favorite Saturday Morning cartoons.  Maybe in my top five.  Maybe my number one favorite.  I dunno.  I can watch all the seasons of it on my Roku TV, so that's cool.  Better than the new movie that just came out, although I didn't think it was as bad as everyone says it is.

I liked the TMNT arcade game more than the cartoon.  But after playing the game and meeting the creators at a convention, I did watch the cartoon after that.

I never liked The Littles as a kid, but I have more respect for it now.  It's one of those cartoons that has held up better than others.  I think they even re-released it in the late 90s and early 2000s.

I knew about that stuff with David Seville and the Chipmunks, but I didn't feel like getting into it in the podcast.  Not one of my better podcasts to be sure, but at least I got something out there.

One time in Elementary School as a kid, they had "dress up as your favorite cartoon character day,' but it wasn't Halloween.  Two guy classmates and three girl classmates wanted to dress up as Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Chipettes.  They asked me if I wanted to join them and dress up as Simon.  I can't remember if I did or not, though.  It was a long time ago!

Yeah those video game cartoons back then were awful, but we watched them anyway to get our fix, since that kind of stuff was hard to come by back then.  Kids today don't know how good they have it!

Again, Cap'n Crunch was just too sweet for me.  I've never had a sweet tooth, even as a kid.  I think I like the Cap'n Crunch character more than the cereal.  He was created by Jay Ward Studios, who also did Rocky and Bullwinkle and George of the Jungle.

Wizardry Takes Over

I reviewed a Wizardry game way back on the PS3.  Wasn't really for me.  I knew about the series, though, since I had an Apple II computer.  But I was just a little kid so that game was too much for me.

Here's the review of that PS3 Wizardry game:

Bleah!  Smacks are too sweet for me!

Speed Racer, alongside Star Blazers and Voltron, are some of the first anime cartoons I watched.

The arcade version of Final Fight has aged pretty well I think.  And 1943 is one of my top favorite shooters, even to this day.

Here's my review of Little Kitty, Big City, by the way:

There's an episode of Bluey where they go to a hardward store.  it's called Hammerbarn.  So a few months ago, they did a promotion with an actual hardware store chain in Austrailia.  Over there they have a version of our Home Depots and Lowe's called "Bunnings.'  So for one month, they changed those stores to be Hammerbarns!  You could meet Bluey and Bingo, do kids workshop activities, and buy exclusive products based on the show!  I work at a major hardware store and I wish they'd do that here!
