Like I said, my collection is only so large because I never traded anything back to Funco Land or Gamestop. There's no shame in not spending thousands of dollars on this stuff. As long as you own the stuff you love! :)

I've been using the Wii myself. Have pretty much every NES, SNES, Sega, Genesis, Turbografx, GBA, Gameboy game on there. And a bunch of arcade games and graphical adventures like King's Quest VI and Day of the Tentacle, that kind of stuff. Save states are a life saver.
I'm the same way. I have no moral compunctions about emulating, but I just like to own everything I play.
I don't know how this is going to come off, but I own pretty much every single system. I don't have a Phillips CD-i, I don't have a Vita, I don't have a Nokia N-Gage and I don't own a Turbo Express. Other than those four, (I have no desire to get an Turbo Express, as it just plays Turbografx games) I have any system that matters. They took years and years to get my hands on, but it's a pretty good collection.
As for RPGs, the same thing basically. I own every single RPG of note for every one of my systems. If I don't own it, it's because I think it's shitty and never really cared to buy it. That's why I'm happy to write reviews on pretty much any one of them, if I haven't yet played it. I also have a lot of non-RPGs for each system..... I should take the trouble to update my profile here so people can see if they are interested.
Again, while I'm proud of the collection, I'm not trying to brag. I've just been playing games since 1987 and never sell anything back.
The worst $200 somebody could spend!
Why not download an emulator, or mod your Wii so you can play them? Or download them on the Wii Virtual Shop, if it's still running.
When I "regot" my NES half a decade ago, I did go overboard. Spent so much money collecting nearly every game. Unless you are a compulsive collector, there are so many easier ways to get your hands on these games.
I like every game on this particular list. I don't love any of them. Games at this point on this list aren't likely to be anybody's FAVORITES. They all have good qualities, but aren't really transcendent. And, you've got to admit that ToF isn't one of the better games in the series.
I'm actually published in psychology and math magazines that are all very, very (VERY) boring for people not interested in psychology or math. Point is, I love writing, and video games (and baseball) are the things I love writing about. I'm just happy to get positive feedback about this thing that I'm passionate about. There are a lot of smart people here, and enjoy the repartee.
When I'm teaching during the semester, I won't post on these sites because I really should be working on stuff for my students or on my research. But I never stop writing, so I have this stockpile of "articles" I've written. I just post one here every few days, and hopefully everyone enjoys them.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words, as always. You've been here since the begining at 1up, and I appreciate it. I'd love to officially write for a site or publish some of my writing at some point if enough people really enjoy it.
I do admit it! I don't think Square was deceiving anyone with the title; they dumbed it down on purpose. You wanna know an instance where Square did lie to us? When they sold those Final Fantasy IX strategy guides that required you to log on to their shitty website every time you wanted any question answered. What a rip off that was!
I don't think Mystic Quest is as bad as some people think it is. But a complex RPG it is not.
