Guilty Gear: Sound Complete Box

Posted on 03/08/2013 at 03:59 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I can tell you all of us who went through archiving all our old blogs breathed a sigh of relief when we finally finished that. I only blogged every few weeks most of the time, but I could have written a book with all that material!

I've never played Guilty Gear though I have wanted too. That is a pretty epic release though!

Retronautical: The Expendables

I never played much of Contra aside from ROMs on the computer. Not a good way to play the game. Experiences like that have steered me away from playing ROMs and instead focusing on playing these games the proper way with a gamepad, TV, and a couch!

GLaD 7: Castlevania Order of Ecclesia, Missing Item Rage Quit

I played and beat all the GBA Castlevania games. I didn't mind how often they'd make you comb the castle to find certain items to beat the game. Then again, I was a teenager back then so I naturally had found those without having to go online!

I was interested in the DS games but after Symphony of the Night, three GBA games, and one PSP game, I feel like I've gotten enough out of the 2D Castlevanias.

Cross My Heart: Why Final Fantasy X-2 Rules

Well, both sides are kinda right. It is a cash-in in the sense that it is mostly just re-used assets of FFX. The battle system rocks though and they added enough other stuff to make it a really good game in its own right. Is it a worthy sequel to FFX? No and it is unfortunately the start of a trend where Square Enix started whoring out the FF brand which at this point has sapped most of my enthusiasm for newer entries.

I was always curious about this game seeing it on the back of the boxart for FFVII. Ah, good times.

It's almost more of a gamble to go the traditional route these days. Games need to stick out amongst this crowd of brown and greys.

Real life tragedy cutting into blog time but here I am!

I'm sorry for your loss. I'll never forget the sadness and shock of losing my dog. I wish you the best in recovering from this.

You're absolutely right that gamers have realized that games have to bring more than just graphics to the table. I wonder how this will effect the next generation? I can imagine big sellers like Call of Duty and Battlefield will continue to be on 360 and PS3. How many people will be willing to take the dive on the platform just for better graphics - and with most of your friends still playing on the older system?

GLaD 6: Majora's Mask, Backlogs, WTF Wednesday

I don't like the time mechanic in Majora either. Yes, it did a lot of cool stuff with it but that wears off when it gets extremely difficult and stressful after the first dungeon. And it encourages backtracking far too much. It certainly allowed them to make the game just as long with a third the amount of content. Still, great game. If I ever get a Wii I will likely go and download it.

Luckily, Metal Gear Ac!d 2 is one of the rare examples of cel-shading being used at the wrong time (did they do that just because they wanted gimmicky 3D visuals?). Usually, game developers know the right time to use them. And then there's Fuse, which while maybe CS is not the way to go, any stylizing could have helped.

I don't think the PS2 did Okami justice. I always felt the resolution couldn't get all those details to pop out. Still, it looked great anyway and now there's the HD version!
