Lol these games are easy to make fun of, especially ones like Dangerous Hunts 2009 (the terrible newer one I talked about). That premise is insane and it makes me wonder if they even have writers over at the development studio. I really love the original game, and it is honestly one of a kind. There's nothing out on the market that's like it. Immediatly after the original, the developer changed the series and started building upon the story-driven madness and shooting gallery you have today. Back in my first Guilty Pleasures entry, the one about The Hobbit, I noted that my friends don't like that game and laughed at me when I played it. Dangerous Hunts is the opposite. My best friend comes over and plays Dangerous Hunts even more than I do sometimes. It's a really fun game and you can't get its experience anywhere else at the moment.
Thanks lol, glad you love the picture captions. They're a lot of fun to write! I have a whole bunch of games to do a Guilty Pleasures on, so I'm going to have to start looking through my collection and see which one I want to do next!
With Fable 2 I could get away from the game for a few days to a week, and when I boot it up I regularly would get a few hundred thousand in gold. It's an amazing game and the way I aquired money so quickly was my only huge downside to that game. I was under the assumption that everything was going to be expensive, money wouldn't get you as far, and my poor Gypsy girl would need to really work her way on up. I worked a little too much though as it were, and I invested in real estate too much, and before I knew it I was Donald Trump overnight lol. I don't want to be Trump, I hate that guy lol.
I would dread trying to come up with an economic system for a game like Fable. A team of guys could literally sit down and waste months dissecting a philosophy for the game and the economics of Albion to try and find something they liked best. That would take up so much time and money, at some point you just have to cut the cord and put something in the game. It would be a nightmare.
Live Long and Friggin' Prosper! That is all. I'm so excited for this ^_^
I trust Digital Extremes, and I also like Marianne Krawczyk and her God of War work. It's a movie-tie in game and by all means should suck a fat one, but I'm hoping it doesn't. I expect it to more or less take inspiration from Mass Effect, except from the combat system. I really want there to be "action" in the sense of spectacle and grandure like there is in the reboot Star Trek, but I don't expect it to be a shooter. I hope it's not. I hope that, like Star Trek itself, this game is more about characters, dialogue, exploration, discovery, drama, and intellectual exercise. That's a tall order though and I'm likely thinking too wishfully.
That's really cool you got into it so much back then Jason. Did you play a lot of co-op CC or did you go solo? The paint color of moogles and fur length affect his abilities? I was wondering about that lol! I knew it had to mean something. I'll start experimenting to see what kind of behaviors Mog has when I change things. I love moogles now, and if they play a significant role in FF VI I think I'm going to have to get that game. I was telling Julian Titus that I'm planning on getting a PS2 so I can build a collection of stuff I use to love on the platform, plus start getting all the games missed out on back in that generation. Julian already convinced me to get FFX and I think I'm going to have to get FFVI. Wait that means it must be a PS1 game right? That should still be compatible with a PS2 right? I should still be able to get FF VI as well hopefully.
I was wondering yesterday whether or not I should even do this CC blog but I knew I'd have a lot of fun writing it, plus at its core it's more important than any old First Impressions I could do. Reason being is that this is the first time I've played a FF game since I was like 7. Even if the game turns out to be not very good and my enjoyment wanes, I will always be nostalgic for it and it will mean a little bit more because it's the first time I've been back to the series (not the main series mind you) in a very long time. So symbolically this experience is pretty special.
I'm so happy that you like my Guilty Pleasures blogs Travis! That gives me even more inspiration to write it out. I put a lot of heart of heart into my variety of stuff, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, sometimes people read it, sometimes people don't. I did a feature a few days ago called Let's Talk Loot and I haven't had any discussions started on it, but it still made me really happy to write it out. I'm still excited about doing a part 2 to Let's Talk Loot maybe in a little while when I think of more topics involving loot and gaming habits.
DOTA 2 isn't a mystery, we've known Valve is developing it for like over a year now it seems. All the sudden Blizzard gets huffy? Valve's been working on this game for a long time and it's looking pretty cool. Go get bent Blizz.
As far as the gameplay goes, what are the Pikmin games like Joaquim? I can find Pikmin 1 on Amazon for much more reasonable prices. If Pikmin 1 is your favorite I think I'll go ahead and buy it if I can learn more about it.
That would be really cool if they decided to do that with the Wii U. I don't even know enough about the Wii U (nobody does yet lol) but I already really want one. If they make older titles like Pikmin 2 available for download I'd love to get it. Plus I think they're making Pikmin 3 for Wii U. I don't remember if that was confirmed or just speculation but I would suspect it could be a launch title. That would be so awesome.
When you say you fear not being able to find a game at a later date in good condition and such, you're not wrong Angelo. Since my Xbox went down and I've been looking for old Gamecube games to try, I've been searching and some of the old GC games that people have recommended to me like Pikmin or Tales of Symphonia are like rare unicorn blood on Amazon.com. I shit you not, here's the proof. I'm on Amazon at the moment and a used copy of Symphonia, with just the bare disks in a generic case and no manual, will cost over $30 and if you want it new it'll be $70 minimum. It gets way worse for Pikmin 2 (widely seen as a huge improvement over the 1st, and the best in the series so far). Pikmin 2 used, game disc only in generic case, will cost $63 and to buy Pikmin 2 new it could cost anywhere from $174 to $300. I'm not a collector so there's no way in shit I would ever pay that kind of money for a game so I guess it's no Pikmin 2 for me.
