DIY#3 Cleaning the inside of your nes game.

Posted on 03/25/2013 at 04:02 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Like trefingers said, it's funny how small the actual pcb board is.  As a kid, I had assumed that the guts of an NES cartridge was as big as the cartridge itself.  I had never seen the inside of one until sometime during 2002 when more websites dedicated to retro gaming stuff showed one.  I was actually a little offended that Japan got the more "practicle" sized carts that came in different colors but the US versions were these dumpy clumsy looking grey monstrosities by comparison.

I can't believe I actually did it.

Knowing me, I'll probably end up buying th eWii U in another year or two.  I just that one game or two that'll convince me that I need an excuse to buy the system.  Then....the hunt will begin.

Trap Games Pt. 1 Kagero: Tecmos Deception 2

Posted on 03/25/2013 at 03:43 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Great choice of subject.  And you're right...the Deception series is kind of a genre all it's own.  But it never lasted long enough to really other similar games to become a full blown genre.

I never played it or knew much about the game, but I knew that they all centered around entrapping people somehow.  Thanks for the neat article.  You've educated me a little more about Tecmo's Deception series.  Looking forward to furtue blogs on this subject of trap games.

I like the archer lady. She's drawn in a unique pose. I don't see that style very often

Wow, that's good news! Looks like Nintendo is about to get a game that'll make owning the Wii U just a little more alluring. They've still git a king way to go though.

Dude, definitely loved the Double Dragon title screen tune on the NES. And just like you, I would also leave it at the title screen just to hear the music.

The Quest to Play Through all the Final Fantasy games - First Installment: Introduction to a Gamer

Posted on 03/22/2013 at 09:22 AM | Filed Under Blogs

This blog series is off to a fine start!
I had similar experiences with helping my brother through certain games. In particular, Super Metroid. Despite being 8 years older than me, my brother relied on me to read sections of the strategy guide we had to give him an idea of where to go when got stumped. I was the brains, he was the brawn. It was a perfect balance. We were like Tango & Cash.

I loved Final Fantasy, although I didn't play it until a couple of years ago. You raised a great point about how we're constantly working out mathematics when it comes to figuring out how much damage we can inflict/receive and the chances of surviving a battle. I do it all the time in my RPG's and never realized it until I read this.
Really enjoyed the post!

There are still plenty of RPG's for the Super NES I'd like to get into.

It was one of the best gaming consoles ever.
