'Again' Release Date Confirmed

Fans of Hotel Dusk and other mystery titles will want to consider Again.

CING's Again, for the DS, will be released March 30th. Gamers should find the game plays similarly to Hotel Dusk, and fits description of the Interactive Novel genre, in particular.

Again tells the story of an FBI agent who is the only survivor of the murder of his family, nineteen years ago. The agent has been pursuing answers to questions, as well as his family's assailants since then.

Additionally, Again utilizes the dual screens of the DS, showing the "Past Vision" of crime scenes on one screen, and the current time on the other. To progress, players must solve puzzles based on the "Past Vision," a seemingly unique method of telling a story.

Our Take

I took a look at the site, as well as some of the information we were sent, and the art style is definitely something different. Actors were used, and their images have been stylized with contrasting outlines. The puzzles in the game seem to mostly be based on duplicating the main character's "Past Vision" in the current time. I'll be keeping my eye on the title as the release draws near.

Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
