The Last of Us is "Not a Zombie Game"

Naughty Dog wants to pull on your heart strings instead of your trigger finger.

Naughty Dog did the nigh-impossible at the Spike TV VGAs: they took gamers by surprise. In an age where leaks are commonplace and industrious enthusiasts find inventive ways to learn secrets, the announcement of The Last of Us was something almost entirely unknown beforehand. Mission accomplished for the team, who tried their best to keep things under wraps. Or was it? Despite the assumptions that this game is another survivors vs. zombies game, creative director Neil Druckmann insists that it’s “not a zombie game.”

Kojima Would Like to Make Zone of the Enders 3

Kojima Productions is understaffed and working on other projects right now, but it's something he has in mind.

Hideo Kojima is a legend in game design, but he’s had a hard time getting away from his most successful franchise, Metal Gear. Since 1987, Kojima has done almost exclusively games that center around the adventures of his beloved character Snake (in various incarnations) and, even though he’s tried to pass the series on to the next generation of Konami designers, he keeps getting pulled back. But that’s not to say that Kojima hasn’t been about to branch out a bit over the years. You may remember his portable game Boktai, which had a direct sequel and a DS follow-up called Lunar Knights. No? Well, you certainly remember Zone of the Enders. You know…the game that was included free with the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo? Despite having that moniker for years, ZoE has its share of dedicated fans, and they will be happy to hear that the series isn’t far from Kojima’s thoughts.

Shinobi Review

Once upon a time, one of the toughest games got its rightful sequel. It’s now.

Out of all the 3DS titles released this year, Shinobi is the most likely to become a hard-to-find cult classic. Even with all of its faults, hardcore fans will find more than enough content to feel fulfilled. The developers at Griptonite have reinvigorated a dormant series that has stayed true to its roots as an unforgiving, relentless, combat-based platformer.

Naughty Dog Has Been Split in Twain

The Last of Us team has been hard at work for over two years.

Usually when a studio decides to reveal a new game you only get a short snippet, not the full length trailer that Naughty Dog revealed at this year’s Spike TV Video Game Awards for their upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive title, The Last of Us.  This reveal was especially surprising since Naughty Dog has traditionally been a ‘one game at a time’ studio with a singular creative team.
