The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review

Never laugh at live dragons.

The Elder Scrolls series is rightly famous for defining what an open world game should be, and Skyrim can arguably be considered the most worthy in the lineage. As the title suggests, the game takes place in Tamriel’s northern most province, a rocky and inhospitable land that is home to the Viking-like Nords. The assassination of the High King of Skyrim has precipitated the next prophecy found in the Elder Scrolls foretelling the return of dragons and the destruction of the land unless a destined champion can fight them off. Guess who you play as?

Pac-Man Party 3D Review

Your children's children might like it.

Pac-Man has a lot going for himself, but most of it just isn’t in this game. The best point of the cartridge for older gamers will probably be portable versions of classic Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug. While there are a few saving graces to Pac-Man Party, the problems outweigh its finer points. After a few games in party mode, it becomes apparent that the game could have used a few more months of polish.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Review

It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but that doesn’t stop it from offering one smooth ride.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 may just be their best game yet. While this game will by no means reinvent the genre it does provide a number of noticeable tweaks that help to refine the overall experience, while continuing to remain true to past iterations in the franchise.

Apparently John Carmack rewrites game engine code quickly.

Less than a week ago, we reported that the Doom 3 source code was approved for release, but temporarily delayed due to a potential copyright infringement. Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Review

This is a nearly-perfect HD collection of two of the best games in the Metal Gear series. Oh, and Peace Walker is in there, too.

With HD collections of our favorite games of the past becoming a regular occurrence, we here at PixlBit have been trying to decide how best to cover them. When reviewing an HD remake, do we do a normal critique of the original game? Do we evaluate the quality of the HD conversion and special features? Or is the answer found with a little of column “A” and a little of column “B”? Well, I’m going to try a little experiment with this review of Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and hopefully you wonderful readers will let us know if this format works well for you.

2011 Holiday Buyer's Guide: Jason Edition

Bring the family together with Jason's buyer's guide.

My philosophy in recommending a gift isn't to pick the biggest and best single player game out there. I want to help you make memories with your family, to shape new conversations with your friends. In short, I want to point out the games I think can bring people together. As such, many of the games I recommend will have multiplayer components. I also want to note that while all my suggestions seem to be major titles, I'm going to leave some of the biggest games off this list, since recommendations for them can be found easily enough elsewhere.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked Review

Demons have overtaken Japan. Let’s survive!

A lockdown has bound Tokyo. No one knows who started the lockdown, and why the government is preventing any civilians from leaving the city. Shouldn’t everyone be able to flee, since angels and demons have begun to appear all around the city? Your party has no choice but to fight or die. If you can defeat them, you’ll make a contract with these powerful entities and enlist their aid in the fight for Tokyo. You will help eradicate Tokyo from the onslaught of evil...except if you’re some kind of monster who abuses their power when they choose their character's moral decisions. With the modified, portable “comps” you have inherited, you can summon your demons and stand a chance at survival.
