PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure Hands On Preview

A mini-game collection clearly geared at kids, but who said that was a bad thing.

With the PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure booth set up right next to Donkey Kong Country Returns, I decided to make a quick stop and try out a few of the mini-games that comprise the title. During my demo I was able to try four different mini-games, each different in design.

Rock Band 3 Hands On Preview

Who knew Rock Band 3 was headed to the DS? I didn't.

A surprise for me at Harmonix's/MTV's area was Rock Band 3 on the DS. I actually had no idea it was being made for the platform, and had very little idea of what to expect, though I had a hunch it would be like Amplitude or the iPhone Rock Band, both games I've never played.

Activision's E3 Press Conference: The Concert

Hello. I’m a gigantic projector screen, and I’ll be your speaker this evening. Ignore the mob. They’re here to party.

Without Activision’s banners and badges being paraded around the Staple’s Center, little would have indicated that the event was Activision’s press conference. Activision’s press conference was a concert. That’s the best way to put it. Fun, to be sure, with some gaming news here and there, but it was definitely unorthodox, and completely chaotic. It was so disorganized. Regardless, if they were to increase the gaming news just a bit, then I’d be completely game for a format like that every once in a while. As for what they did show, gaming wise…

NBA Jam Hands On Preview

NBA Jam slams its way back into action on the Nintendo Wii.

NBA Jam on the SNES was one of my favorite sports games growing up, and I still play it to this day. I have been waiting for an NBA Jam that would compare to the perfection of this classic game. Over the years NBA Jam games have been a failure and have not been nearly as good as the original titles. EA who took over Midway's franchise hopes to achieve this goal with their release on the Nintendo Wii. The Wii brings a whole new look to NBA Jam's gameplay in a way that opens up my hopes for a comeback.

Sonic Colors Hands On Preview

So, having tons of hands on experience through out the years, one of the booths I made sure to get near on the first day was Sega, to view any new Sonic title available.

Let me say this: I was impressed. I'm not the easiest Sonic fan to please, having enjoyed the legacy titles and parts of Sonic Adventure and it's sequel but little else in the franchise.

Metroid: Other M Hands On Preview

Metroid: Other M. The name screams other; the game screams awesome.

After about 20 minutes of demoing, Metroid: Other M was much better than I was expecting. The presentation was sleek, the controls were smooth, and the story was intriguing enough to keep me interested. And most of all, it still manages to capture the essence of Metroid.

All but one of the Sonic Games on the Show Floor

Four Sonic titles are available to demo or preview at E3 this year, and I was able to play three and take a glimpse at one more.

Editor's Note: This was written after Sonic Colors Wii impressions, but due to technical issues, the Sonic Colors Wii impressions will be up afterward at some time.

Crackdown 2 Hands On Preview

The sequel is a massive improvement on the already excellent original title.

Crackdown 2 has been highly anticipated among many Crackdown fans. It seems that it's finally here and ready to play. My first impression while watching videos and looking at screen shots is that the game should live up to the quality of the original Crackdown. After playing the game, I can happily say that it has both lived up to its potential and surpassed the quality of its proceeder.
