Pikmin 2 Wii Release Date Announced

Donkey Kong Country Returns and others are also receiving price cuts.

Nintendo announced via press release yesterday that two popular titles will be augmenting the Nintendo Selects collection. Chief among the two is the recently announced US release of Pikmin 2 for the Nintendo Wii. The GameCube favorite will be released on June 10, 2012 and will retail for $19.99. Pikmin 2's primary upgrade are new controls that take advantage of the Wii Remote.

Donkey Kong Country Returns Review

Chest-thumpin' good times.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is the most self-explanatory title since New Super Mario Brothers. It's literally a return to the vine-swinging, barrel-blasting, death pit hoppin', baddie stomping, 2D platforming of the original Donkey Kong Country. It's half remake, half remix, and a whole lotta fun. Old-school never gets old... but it can get a little messy.

Whether playing with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk set-up or just the Wii Remote alone, you are going to be shaking to perform the vital function of rolling as well as ground pounding and blowing. Recently, however, the Wii homebrew community has concocted a method to skirt the need to use these motion controls.

Donkey Kong Country Returns Review

Waggle controls nearly ruin what could've been an outstanding game.

After a fourteen year hiatus, the Donkey Kong Country series has returned thanks to a combined Retro Studios and Nintendo effort. This return to the beloved series is, for the most part, a good one; however, the game's controls are extremely problematic, particularly, finicky analog stick controls in 2D and unreliable motion control that performs many of the game’s core functions. Combine this with a distinct lack of heart, and Donkey Kong Country Returns doesn’t quite match up to its SNES predecessors.

Nintendo Officially Declares 'It's On Like Donkey Kong' With a US Trademark

Now every time you say the phrase, you owe Nintendo a dollar.

The phrase has been around for years, used in a variety of media, most notably movies, but now, Nintendo officially owns the rights to the catchphrase, "It's on like Donkey Kong." In honor of the upcoming release of Donkey Kong Country Returns, Nintendo has decided to take the plunge and file a request for ownership with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Donkey Kong Country Returns to Feature Super Guide

Like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2, the latest from Nintendo will contain the feature.

IGN revealed yesterday in a preview for Donkey Kong Country Returns that the title will feature a version of the Super Guide. This same ability was featured in two of Nintendo's past titles, originally New Super Mario Bros. Wii and most recently, Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Reggie Confirms 2011 Release Date for Nintendo 3DS

The president of Nintendo of America slips the news last night during a segment of Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Last night, during a segment of the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon, Reggie Fils-Aime, the president of Nintendo of America, demoed Donkey Kong Country Returns. As a bonus, Reggie also showed Fallon the Nintendo 3DS along with the upcoming title, Kid Icarus: Uprising. Shortly after, he confirmed that the Nintendo 3DS is coming out next year.
