Armored Core V Preview

Another retooling of the Armored Core franchise might have enough new ideas to draw in players who have resisted all of these years.

If you dream of controlling fully customized, walking machines of death around a battlefield, you are probably Japanese.  If you actually aren’t Japanese and this concept has some appeal to you, then you are part of the niche of Western gamers that Armored Core V is courting.  Even though mech piloting sounds like a lot of fun to almost everyone, most of us in the West just don’t get around to doing it in our spare time.  All indications are that we should clear our schedules to try out Armored Core V.

Kickstarting an Industry

What does fan based funding really mean for the industry?

I’d bet dollars to donuts that only a miniscule number of our readers had heard of Kickstarter a couple of months ago.  And those that had heard of the crowdsourcing fundraising site could not have possibly known that it would become an important part of an evolving video game industry; that it would throw a wrench into the workings of how things have “always been done” and give the community – the fans – a voice that is not only heard, but heeded as well.

Tell Me About Your Emotional Connection to Mass Effect

Nick's looking for your answers.

The Shepard Trilogy of Mass Effect has finally come to an end, which has evoked some strong feelings from fans. There's outrage over the ending and not just the ending, but its impact on the series as a whole. I have no feelings on the topic as I have not even played a single title in the series, and truthfully, I have very little ambition to ever do so. Sure, I gave Mass Effect a shot and I actually own both the first and second title, but as someone who's not much a fan of sci-fi, the story and characters hold little intrigue for me. But this is not about me; this is about you, the fans of the series.

Mass Effect 3 Review

So, it has come to this.

Five years ago BioWare released Mass Effect to the world. The first game in an epic RPG trilogy with the ambitious goal of having your character’s actions and accompanying consequences carry over from game to game;  creating an ever more complex and living world quite literally shaped by the player. As a result, Mass Effect 3 is forced to undergo scrutiny for not only how it handles as a standalone game, but as a conclusion to BioWare’s half-decade efforts as well.

Wasteland 2 Getting a Kickstart

Fans successfully fund the cult classic's sequel.

UPDATE: In just two short days, the project has been officially backed, easily surpassing the $900,000 goal initially set by inXile. Currently the team is sitting at $980k, just short of a cool million; with 32 more days to go it's likely the project will accumulate much more. The story from 3/13/2012 can be found below.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare Review

Submitted for your approval: the story of a man fighting against the darkness.

American Nightmare is a smaller, more action focused entry in the series. The backdrop for Wake’s new tale is far removed from Cauldron Lake in the first game, and instead moves into the desert of Arizona. Wake is on the trail of Mr. Scratch, the darkness-created doppleganger featured in the two DLC episodes for Alan Wake: The Signal and The Writer.

Because there's Dillon's Rolling Western opinions, tons of Kid Icarus: Uprising information, a Club Nintendo update, more controversy with Tekken X Street Fighter and Sonic 4 Episode 2, and more! Click through to find the download, subscription, and listening links.
