Sonic CD Review

You know you want to hear “Sonic Boom” again.

I love Sonic the Hedgehog. That is probably the understatement of the year, as I’ve made my love of the blue hedgehog well known and I know all of the Sonic games front to back. Well, most of them anyway. I didn’t own a Sega CD back in the day so one of the exceptions is Sonic CD. Since its initial release in 1993, diehard fans have sworn by the game’s quality, going so far as to call it the greatest Sonic game ever. Two ports have been released on the PC and as part of the Sonic Gems Collection on the GameCube, but this latest port is the most attractive release of the title. Does it still hold up 18 years later?

Origin Gains 11 Publishers

Titles from CD Projekt, Trion Worlds and more are coming soon.

Electronic Arts has gained the support of more game publishers for their PC platform, Origin. 11 more to be exact. Trion Worlds, CD Projekt Red, Freebird Games, Robot Entertainment, Recoil Games, 1C Company, Core Learning Ltd, Autumn Games, inXile Entertainment, N3V Games, and Paradox Interactive have all agreed to release select titles from their catalog in the coming months.

Multiple Sonic Releases Today on PC

PC gaming has been hit by a Sonic Boom!

Today Sega announced the release of two Sonic games and additional content, all for the PC through digital download markets. The first title is Sonic CD. The port is based off of the recently released XBLA and PSN versions. If you buy the title on Steam, you'll also get Metal Sonic and Tails costumes for the multiplayer game Spiral Knights.

A Final Fantasy XIII-2 Amazon.com preorder gives players a boss battle and party member. Why do the "when" and "where" matter when making a new videogame purchase?

This week's PB & Jason takes the idea of exclusive game content offered as retailer-specifc preorder bonus to the task, specifically in relation of Final Fantasy XIII-2. In short, I think the idea is ridiculous, and I'm surprised to see Square Enix using this tactic for a Final Fantasy title.
