The feel good story of the year just keeps getting better.
The Double Fine Adventure fundraising effort on Kickstarter has just hit $2 million in pledges, less than two weeks in. After reaching its $400,000 goal in just eight hours, the fundraiser has continued to raise more than five times the original amount requested.
The new coupling has Sega acting as distributor.
Sega has found itself in bed with another company again today. The company that brought us Sonic the Hedgehog announced that they have entered into a partnership with Atlus – this April, Sega will begin its new role of Atlus brand distributor.

At this point you’d have to be living under a rock to not have heard how Double Fine amazed the gaming world by raising nearly $2 million (and counting) for their next game, Double Fine Adventure through crowd sourcing site Kickstarter. Gamers who gave generously were given scant few details concerning the project aside from the fact that it would be a classic point-and-click graphic adventure game and that it would be released around October of this year. But now that the project is certainly a go, Tim Schafer has released a special message with a couple of updates on the project.

Namco Bandai has announced that its quarterly profits have increased by 48%. This is due to a 17% increase in Japan and despite a 27% decrease in the US and a 5% decrease in Europe. The period in question is from the beginning of October to the end of December 2011.

The previous year Nintendo released its first handheld system, the Game Boy, and unleashed the addiction known as Tetris. This was, however, in North America. As I eluded to in Mario Mania #2, a Famicom player often had a different, exclusive set of hardware to play with than his counterpart in North America. The Japan-only accessory, the Famicom Disk System, was one of them.
