Hot off the heels of the release date for the strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Take-Two has announced that XCOM, the first person shooter take on the strategy franchise, has been delayed into "fiscal 2014." The news was announced during Take-Two's annual earnings call.
Pre-order bonuses have also been unveiled.
Following the delay of the XCOM FPS, 2K Games announced earlier this year its plans to release XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a game more like the beloved strategy franchise it was based on. Those waiting for XCOM's return now have a solid date to look forward to. The action-strategy game will be released on October 9, 2012 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

XCom is a franchise that, until two years ago, many assumed was dead and gone. In 2010, however, longtime fans rejoiced at headlines that revealed a new title was in the works. In most cases, though, this excitement only lasted as long as it took to read the article under those headlines, which revealed that this latest entry would actually be a first person shooter instead of an overhead strategy game. 2K Games has just announced the release date for XCOM, a tactical action game set in mid-century America for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Players will lead a team of elite field agents into battle on March 6, 2012 in America, and March 9 worldwide. By using a combination of firearms and "sci-fi abilities," they will try to defeat an otherworldly enemy who looks to destroy and rebuild the world in their image.
