New hardware, new ideas -- is that too much to ask?

Playing Twisted Metal is a lot like going to your ten year high school reunion.  Sure it’s great to hang out with old friends, bask in nostalgia and relive some of the good ole days but at the end of it all you go home and thank god that you aren’t in high school anymore; that you’re not wearing the same clothes, that you aren’t living with your parents and that you aren’t as stupid as you were back then. But then again there are those like Twisted Metal that peaked in high school and would give anything to go back.

Spec Ops: The Line Breaching Stores On June 26

Pre-orders will be upgraded to the premium edition of the game.

Yager Developments is now ready to release Spec Ops: The Line with the announcement of the title's release date. G4 is reporting that 2k Games confirmed in a press release that the third person shooter set in a modern day conflict will be released on June 26, 2012.

Seaman Coming to 3DS

The Dreamcast classic is being revived.

The virtual pet simulator Seaman, originally released on the Dreamcast, will be revived on the 3DS, according to Andriasang. In a feature about Nintendo, the online edition of Nikkei mentioned the company's plan to revive other publisher's titles on the 3DS in order to bring strong titles to the handheld; Seaman is mentioned as an example of this.

3DS Reaches Five Million Sold in Japan

Nintendo's fortunes have definitely turned around.

Despite its rocky beginning that resulted in an unplanned price cut from Nintendo, Media Create sales figures in Japan are reporting that the 3DS has sold five million units in 52 weeks. This breaks the previous record set by the Nintendo DS, at 56 weeks.

The feel good story of the year just keeps getting better.

The Double Fine Adventure fundraising effort on Kickstarter has just hit $2 million in pledges, less than two weeks in. After reaching its $400,000 goal in just eight hours, the fundraiser has continued to raise more than five times the original amount requested.

Indie Games on Xbox Live Get More Exposure

The latest dashboard update gives the indie scene more attention.

Last fall, a dashboard update changed the layout of the Xbox 360 interface to the new metro style currently being used. Among the various problems the new layout presented, such as connection problems with the UFC app, was the way indie games were promoted, in that they weren't. XBLIGs were buried under various menus and sub categories, making the task of finding them a quest in itself.

Tales of the Abyss Review

A decent port of a great game.

Tales of the Abyss tells the story of Luke fon Fabre, a boy who lives a sheltered life due to a kidnapping incident that he was the victim of as a child. After losing all of his childhood memories, he becomes a snobby and ignorant young adult. During a training exercise with his master, Van, a mysterious female attacker accidentally causes an event known as “Hyperresonance” which sends both Luke and his attacker to the other side of the country. Luke then learns about the conspiracies, wars and other events that were going on outside of the walls that he had been bound by. These events change Luke, and everyone that he travels with.
